How'd everyone else do?
Aimes, I hope you feel better soon. Definately rest...thats how your body heals itself.
I did the Curves thing on Friday. We spent 3 hours walking yesterday at the zoo too, so that was fun. I hate to admit it, but I'm so used to sitting on my butt, my back ached a little from walking that long.
I'm planning on Curves again after work today.
Just now - I answered the phone and the customer wanted to make an appointment, but she wanted to make it after her morning workout at Curves!

Good for you on being so consistent!!!

I hate missing a workout (especially since I started this thread; I hate to look like a hypocrite) but my body is revolting against me right now! I've read that that is a bad time to workout, when your body is in a lot of pain. I've heard about people "fighting the pain" with a workout, only to feel even worse for longer! So yeah, the body is getting a rest today. I work on the 2nd level of a building, so I've told everyone that I am not walking downstairs for any reason until the end of the day!!!
That's funny about the customer. See? Curves is taking over the world!!!

The rain kept me from walking, BUT I did the nordic track for 20 minutes last night. That's the longest I have been able to do it at a higher setting!

Beth,

Brendan and I usually go the gym together actually!
When I joined Golds Gym in January I convinced him to sign up with me. He was the first one who wanted to sign up with a personal trainer and really get his butt in gear. Its so much better having a workout buddy!

Beth and Amy -- I love how you and I are talking about working out like we have all this energy but if you look at our imood's mine says "lazy" and Beth's is "sluggish" and Amy's is "achy"
That made me chuckle.

GREAT JOB everyone!!!
Fran, I am glad you are being smart about the dangers of walking at night. Anyone on this thread who is exercising by walking: try to avoid going at night, stay aware of your surroundings at ALL TIMES, and walk with a friend or dog if possible. If you do walk alone (or even with someone) at night, consider taking along mace/pepper spray with you or taking a self-defense course first.
Fran, what are you doing for your abs? I found a great ab workout in an old issue of Glamour magazine. Let me know if you'd like me to post it!
Keep up the great work everyone

GREAT observation Beryl!!!! But, of course, we could all be feeling "lazy", "sluggish", and "achy" now because we've been so busy working out!!!

Keep up the great work everyone

Just remember that with any ab working, if you're not holding the correct form, you WILL cause your abs to develop OUTWARD instead of flat!! It's a hazard and really shows how important it is to always have proper form when exercising.

Make sure the small of your back is touching the floor at all times. If you have a large arch (like me) this means you really have to push it down!
Make sure you are holding your abs tight the whole time. This includes when you are first getting into position and throughout the whole exercise. It is all too easy to go through the motions without holding those muscles flexed.
Make sure you are breathing out everytime the muscle contracts (so everytime you have crunched up) and breathe in on the way back down.

If you keep those things perfect the whole time your abs will develop flat instead of outward. Too many girls end up working their abs so hard, only to find that they've developed them the wrong way! Also, if you are getting tired and feel that you can't hold the correct positions any longer but you still want to work your abs more. STOP for a moment and stretch out! Once you've done that you can continue through some more ab stuff AND have the proper form. A good stretch for your abs is if you lay flat on your back, pull your arms back behind your head so that you are fully stretched out, and pull yourself in opposite directions.

I can not stress enough how important form is, ESPECIALLY in abs! Also, abs should be the LAST exercise you do. Always keep that in mind!

Ok...I'm done rambling. I just want to make sure that everyone is getting the results they want from the work they're putting in!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE!!
