Well, I did 3 trips around the circuit at Curves after work. WOO HOO! Man I feel ENERGIZED!!!

Question: do any of your cats act differently after you've been working out? I've noticed that whenever I come home all sweaty, Eponine is even more affectionate than usual, especially with the welcome home head-butting. I've read that a woman's sweat is a turn-on for men, do you think it's the same for cats?
Things that make ya go hmmmmm....

Waffle doesn't really pay me any different attention, but Coco generally is much more affectionate after I've been working out.

If it's Brendan who's been sweating though, look out, Waffle will be on the PROWL!

This is a bit wordier than most of the replies on this thread, but I need your help!!!

So it turns out that I'm going to be leading those participating in UCF's part of Relay For Life in their warm-up first thing in the morning on Sat April 9th. Thus far it's just going to be little ol me in front of all of these people in the center of UCF's track. I'm a bit freaked.
I have to do a 1/2 hour warm-up consisting of 10-15 min of exercises to get their heart rates up (basic stuff like what you would do at the beginning of a Kickboxing or Step Class) and then 10-15 minutes of good stretching. The only thing that has me nervous is that 10-15 minutes of basic HR raising exercises is A LOT! As instructors we're only required to do 5 min of those kinds of things before a class.

So, the reason I'm posting this on here was because I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out. Do you have any simple, easy to explain, able to move fluidly from one movement to the next HR raising exercises that you enjoy doing??? I'm open to suggestions. So far I have all of the basic aerobics cheesy stuff: march, step touch, grapevine, grapevine knee up, march forward knee up, march back...blah blah blah! I would just love to get some fresh ideas! I jsut feel like I'll really be reaching to make this last THAT long!! Any ideas guys?!?!

Katherine -- You are right, that is a LONG time to lead a warm up. What an honor though getting to get people pumped up and ready for Relay. I was on a team in college and had so much fun!! The only thing I could think of to do (mind you I am NOT an instructor and this may sound TOTALLY dumb) but what about simply turning on like some stupid dance song like the electric slide, or the cha cha slide, or even the macerena and just let people go at it. Those get people moving...that was my only thought on that.

I went to the gym earlier today. I was still sore from Wednesday. But I perseveered and did 35 min. on the StairMill. OMG what a tiring machine. My legs hurt even more now!!! I will definitely be doing upper body lifting tomorrow. Anyone else making a trip to the gym or getting their workout in today??

Thanks Beryl! That's not a stupid idea at all. I think that in between some of the typical warm-up things I'll add some areas for people to cut loose lol. That's actually a great idea. It will probably help everyone to feel more comfortable around each other as well!!

I too made it to the gym today. I had to teach my Body Pump class...to only 3 people though!! That's what the week after Spring Break + majorly horrific weather (we're in the same storm as you are Renee - is it still raining there?) will get you!

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

I just read in Oprah's April issue about a vest one can wear and put up to 32 half pound weights in it. I think it was $80 but sounded like a good way to make walking/treadmill workout more intense-also something about a CD to listen to to give you pointers and other exercise stuff. I put the magazine in my vehicle if interested I know there was a website.

Gail, that vest sounds like a great way to make a workout more butt-kicking!
Katherine, never mind the small class. YOU got to work out, right?

Beryl and Renee- way to go! Keep up the awesome work!
I was in the midst of that same storm that went through today. We had hail and strong wind- it was crazy nuts.

Did my 3 trips around the circuit at Curves today. I feel awesome.
Anyone going to be doing any exercising this weekend?

i plan to work on upper body tomorrow - no cardio. Sunday I may or may not go do something. I know our gym hours are cut short because of Easter.

i am nearly dead!!!!!

Today bf and i went to the supermarket. I was so pissed at him because he had just gone there and got things for him self and left me with nothing! so i was really pissed at him so on the way out i rammed the trolly into him!
it didnt hurt and he knew i did it on purpose!
THen he said okay you can go home by your self SO I SAID FINE!!!!!!!!! he was waiting at the exit for me and then turned into the road and told me to get into the car and i said no! so he just drove off!
That made me so mad because he just lefttttttttttttt!!!
anyway i walked home UP A very STEEP HILL!
I get home all red in the face and puffed out and he is smiling then he comes to cuddle me and i said "havent you pissed off to your mothers yet?" and he asks me why im so angry!
he said he felt really bad that he just left me there but he thought i wanted to walk home and he waited here untill i got home to make sure i was okay.

then he tried to make me laugh and he said "isnt that hill horrible"
and i said yes but i like it so im going to walk to the supermarket everyday from now on just to buy ONE thing!

Oh Fran your boyfriend is such a stinker! I would be so mad if Bradley drove off and left me behind somewhere
. Thank goodness it was in walking distance (and that you made it home safely). At least you saw the bright side of it
, that it was a workout in disguise. I'd say make that walk once a day to pick up something (as long as it's daylight out!) and you'll get a great workout in, especially climbing that hill!
By the way, I hope the bf is sleeping on the COUCH tonight!!!

ohh he really copped it when i got home, but it was okay because i had told him several times ive been wanting to walk down there and back to see how far it was. and its just like down the road! but yeah, we nearly dont have a car untill july anyway so i have to get used to it!!!

(he still feels very bad) he said that if i wasnt back by dark which was only another 10 mins left he would have gone searching for me and then gone mental!
he doesnt let me out when its dark by my self anyway

Hi

I can happily report I did my brisk hour walk today. I was going to wait until tomorrow, I felt yucky today (woman problems) but then found it's going to rain tomorrow so I pulled myself up and went out. Although I wasn't fully with it when I left, I forgot to wear a bra! (ugh, not fair to the world), literally just forgot! So I pulled out a jacket to cover myself up.
But once I started walking I felt better. I am glad I did that. Now I can relax and enjoy my holiday!

Well I am sad and ashamed to report my grand plans to go to the gym yesterday did not work out.

I was all set to go today and then I realized that I think our gym hours are cut way short today because of Easter. My plan is to get 30 min of cardio in at the fitness room at our apartment complex. Then lifting will commence tomorrow after work.

Hopefully with this thread's support I stick to my plan this time!

I did walk on Saturday outside and shoveled some of the big piles of snow unto the driveway so they can melt faster. I cleaned the house for hours on Friday nite-so no treadmill on Friday.
I can't believe how much I ate yesterday. 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers. Pretty good on candy as I'm not really a candy eater. But had ice cream twice. AND THE GOOD NEWS.............The scale stayed the same from Friday am to Mon AM!!! The weather is supposed to be in uppper 40's low 50's all week so I'm going to walk/run outside instead of the treadmill.

Everyone have a good workout today.
