Hi all..... recently my mum and dad asked me what they could do to keep all the wandering cats in their street off their lawn (thinking I might know something!! ha ha)....they don't mind the cats and don't want to be cruel to them but they want the to stop using the lawn as a litter tray!!! Usually I can help them out with cat trouble but this time I couldn't think of anything!! All I could think of was stuff you do to keep them off kitchen surfaces etc....but seeing as you can't really put sticky tape all over the lawn I didn't think it would help much!! ha ha ha......any suggestions?

I think that about the only thing to do here since you are talking about keeping them out of the whole yard, not just the garden, is to get a garden hose with a motion sensor on it. Whenever it detects movement (cat or dog walking by) it squirts them with water. I have seen these in catalogs, but have never tried them myself.

Hmmm thats an idea! But the garden is only small and to the side is the driveway where the cars are parked......(its a front garden you see..)I don't know if they would be able to fit one of those in there..? Of course I suggested getting their own cat to claim it as HIS property!! ha ha ha ha....(seeing as mum wants one anyway!!!)

There are granular cat repellents available that can be used in lawns or gardens. This type of repellent needs to be reapplied once every 10 days or more often if it rains. Someone I know used a granular repellent to keep cats out of her flower garden last summer, and she said it was very effective.
