cleaning the catit fountain

my dad threw away my instructions for my catit fountain!

i've been cleaning it best i can but does anyone know how i'm supposed to be cleaning it?

how often do you guys change the water and filters?

how do you clean the whole thing and how often?

I don't have a catit fountain, but my Petmate fountain recommends changing the filter once every 3 months.

I give it a quick washdown when I fill it...about every 2-3 days, and then once a month I tear it apart and clean out the hard water deposits. I use full strength vinegar on the deposits. I also keep an eye on the water. If it collects hair or food, I'll change the water. Other than that, the filter keeps the water clean.

thanks for that! i see i've been cleaning it a little too much, every 3 days!

Javern, i did a google search for how to clean the catit and found nothing. didnt think to go on their website! doh! thanks for that link

Sweets, i wish i'd bought the petmate now, i'm supposed to change the filter every three WEEKS! a little excessive i thought. maybe i'll switch to using bottled water in it to buy me some extra time.
