i have a female and a male cat, and she is not spayed, she is a little cat but she has got quite fat and her nipples have drooped so we are i am 99.9% she is preganant, and that was about two months ago so she must be due anyday now, my problem is that i live in a house and she has access to outside and there is a forest infront. i try keeping her in but my younger brother and sister let her out, what i wanted to know is that if she can get out will she have them outside, we also have a dog that she doesent really like. Also can i lock her in one room with her food and litter tray and whelping box is that healthy or shouldent i keep her in, and what would she do if she does have them outside would she bring them home or would she stay with them and never come home, sorry my message is so long its that im very worried, as my last cat, their mother died and i dont want anything to happen to her, please awnser any or all of my questions thanks.

If she has them outside its likely she would find a cozy hole somewhere and shack up. If you want to keep her safe from outside critters and/or the dog she dont like I would secure her to a nice room, I dont think that would be so bad. Im not a vet or a breeder or anything but just weighing the options and thats what I would do if it were my cat. WHen I brought home a 2nd cat he lived in a bedroom for a couple weeks, had a window to look out and had all his little dishes and litter box..

I would definately keep her indoors in this seperate room. It is very important to make her feel safe so she will have the babies successfully. Is the father cat your own male cat or one from outside? She really needs to be seen by a vet to be sure she didn't pick up any diseases while she is outside.

How old is she? I ask because if she is too young (under a year or so), she may not be capable of raising babies at such a young age. She could reject them and then you will have to be up every 2-3 hours to bottle feed them and make sure they are warm. Or even worse, she could kill them. Please please please do not let her outside anymore until she is spayed. Tell your brother and sister that it is very important that they do not let her out, tell them that it is risking her life everytime she goes out there especially if she is pregnant.

Please keep her inside and safe. Outside she is in danger of predatory toms and after she drops her kittens, she will go back in heat and get mated with and become pregnant again. Keep her in a room with a nesting box-

Inside sounds safest and best to me. Train the kids NOT to let the cat out, no matter what. And please, get those kittens fixed as soon as they are old enough.. and mom too when shes ready before she gets another few buns in the oven.

Yes, locking momma in any room where she is secure and can't get outside is best for her as well as the new kittens. It also keeps the momma separated where she can't get pregnant again.

You seem to be trying but please get all of your animals spayed and neutered. If money is tight, watch the newspapers and announcements for free offers. As an example, a group in my area is currently sponsoring 150 S/N on an as-needed basis.

You've already gotten plenty of advice so good luck!

Definitely set her up in her own room. I did when Little Miss was ready to have her kittens. And it worked out fine, because she wanted me there with her when she was having labor pains. If I left my bedroom for a minute, she would come and get me and prompt me to follow her back to her nesting box with all of the warm towels, and roll on her back so I could rub her tummy.
I set her up a box, I had food, water, and a litterbox in there for her. And it was fine. Don't let her have them outside. There are too many dangers to not only the kittens but to her. Make sure your brothers and sisters know she is not be let out of your room/her room. And I read that a mothers stomach drops when they are in labor...thats not always the case. Little Miss was still huge on the sides when she went into labor. And I knew because she would not shut up. She kept talking and coming and getting me. I could just tell by the way she was acting. Once she had the kittens...after about a week, I let her have access to the big litterbox, and it worked out fine.
Keep her inside, and keep an eye peeled on her. You'll be a grandmama before you know it!!!

Get that male to the vet to be neutered right now. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go straight to the vet. The reason I tell you this is because 1) as soon as those kittens are born your female will go straight back into estrus and your male will once again impregnant her and 2) if he hasn't already, then your male will begin spraying your house with foul-smelling urine to warn other males to keep away from his pride.

While I realize this mating was probably an accident, you have had ample time to get these cats spayed and neutered. Why haven't you? I don't want to seem as though I am jumping on you about it, but to allow a brother/sister mating is simply irresponsible.

Make the appointment for your male today - no excuses. And as soon as your vet will agree to do it, get that female in to have her spayed too. To wait any longer isn't an option available to you anymore.

Keep your female confined to a room with her nesting box and food/fresh water/litter pan until those kittens are born. Do not let your male in the room with them. Do not let your male outside as he could bring in viruses or other baddies you don't want the kittens to get - in a normal household, there is no way to truly isolate cats from each other due to the mechanisms of modern heating/ventilation/airconditioning - a closed door is no guarantee that germs won't get to the momcat and babies.

Have you thought about where these kittens are going to go once they are ready to leave Mom? Do you already have homes for them?

And how did this happen hmmm??

Please neuter the male immediately, as Gayef mentioned, you no longer have a choice at this, it needs to be done right now. Are you aware that a female can carry 2 seperate litters from seperate or the same males at the same time? If she mated and became pregnant and then mated again, there could be double the babies growing inside her right now. Please start looking for homes for them right away.

Don't forget to have the vets number on hand and even a 24 hour emergency vet too in case something goes wrong...
