Ok, so my very bad cats have learned the concept of teamwork! There are bathroom cupboards that they are NOT allowed into, so I've tied them shut with long socks (no money for better measures)....Sammy's been trying to get in, but even if he pulls it open a crack, it shuts if he moves to go inside. Well, it's taken him a few weeks, but Sammy's figured it out. He enlisted his sister.

He pulls the door open as far as he can, then Lola slips into the crack and stands halfway in, bracing the door. Sammy then steps OVER her and into the cupboard! How does he get her to do this stuff?

Guess I'll be investing in a better method to keep them out of there...

Isn't it a bite in the butt when you find out that your pets are smarter than you?
I hate that!

I discovered Ellie and Persil doing a similar thing with the kitchen bin, after I had put some chicken remains in there. Ellie is tall enough to stand up and open the bin with her head and paws, then Persil jumped in and took a chicken bone! I am now double wrapping everything until I can buy a new bin with a stronger lid.

Gosh, cat's training cats to be little burglers.. that kind of team work might be able to get you 500 bucks on some video tv show if you can get it on tape. I am not sure which ones are still "around" and pay out.. but that sounds like a winner to me.

What a couple of clever kitties! That is very smart of them.
I'd assume you must be proud but I know it makes you nuts when they repeatedly get into places where you prefer they didn't. I'm guessing that you are feeling a combination of humor and exasperation about their new trick.
I'd sure like to have seen that, though. I'm sure it was hilarious to watch.

HA! I will tell YOU if YOU can tell ME how Benji did THIS!

I was leaving the house and did not want to leave the cats with dirty litterboxes. I cleaned them out and put the messes in a plastic bag. I KNEW if I went out before I was ready to go it would give Benji that much more of a chance of escaping so I opened a bathroom window and threw it out there intending to pick it up when I actually left.

I closed the window, got ready to leave and checked on the cats to tell them goodbye - AND _ NO BENJI! NOWHERE! I searched the whole house again and again. I thought he HAD to have jumped out the window when I was not looking. I ran to the back and climbed on fences to search for a sign of him. I then climbed ON TOP of my shed to search for him but NO BENJI! I went door to door (at 8am!!!!!) but nobody had seen him. Finally I had to go and was heart sick.

When I came back I searched and called again (10 hours later!) and once again went door to door! NO BENJI! I went to the bathroom and when I flushed the toilet I heard a soft meow! I called his name and ran outside thinking he had come home but he was not there!

I went back inside and flushed the toilet again and again I heard him. I THEN looked in the cupboard and checked to see if there were any holes he might have got in, but NO! I went into the closet and tore it apart looking for him but still did not find him. I started calling him and flushed the toilet again. I heard him louder this time.

FINALLY I opened the huge empty towell drawer NEXT to the cupboard and THERE HE WAS!

This drawer was NOT open at the time I through the bag out the window, so how did he get in and how did it close on him! I STILL have NO idea! LOL!

NOW days when he tries to get in the drawer I remind him of the time he got closed in there for 10 hours and he stops and decides not to go in!

Wouldn't it be grand to be able to read their minds?! I KNOW my cats are smarter tahn I am!
