Is this advertiser really necessary?

Those popups from lowermybills.com are extremely annoying.

Let me state that I understand the need for advertising to pay for the site and have no issue of any kind with that. Since I would prefer not to be inundated with advertising, I paid for a year's subscription and enabled the "No Advertising Displayed" option. I have my browser set to block unwanted popups. Now, the lowermybills.com ads pop through before I can login, which I understand the workings of, and those I ignore. But today after I logged in, an additional 5 or 6 windows for their damn website still popped up

Again, I understand the need for advertising to pay for the site but can it be taken under consideration to get rid of this particular advertiser?

Respectfully,

I am sorry, but there really isn't much that can be done about the popups if you aren't logged in when you first access the site. I will have someone look into the multiple popups, though. It is only supposed to be one.

Just fyi, that hasn't happened before or (so far) since. May have been gremlins

The multiple window problem happened again this morning, just a few minutes ago (1635 GMT).

One large window popped up when I accessed the site, then another, smaller window popped up as I was logging in. Another 15+ windows continued to pop up after I was logged in to the site. At first I thought it was 6 or so that were just cycling to the top of the pile but then I began to move them off my workspace and found that it was new windows popping up, not the old ones. I finally killed my browser application (Mozilla) to get it to stop.

I did save some of the urls from the windows - the servlet codes are all different. Let me know if you want them.

Just wondering... is it possible for you to stay logged on to TCS? I make sure that it remembers my screen name and password and that way, whenever I sign on to the site, I'm already logged in and therefore have never had your problem. Is that an option for you - maybe it could help?

Have you recently scanned your computer for spyware? Sounds to me like that could be the culprit. I know Anne set it up that there was only supposed to be one pop-up per day on this site. I would imagine there would be a LOT of complaints if this were happening to many people here. I know I would complain!! If you don't already have a spyware program, you can download AdAware free here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Using windows XP with service pack 2 installed I have never seen a popup of any sort here and I do not subscribe to TCS either. If ad-aware does not help, I suggest perhaps Search & Destroy Spybot (also free, get it from www.download.com ) to scan your system as well as finding a popup blocker that works for you and your operating system.

It is possible, I just prefer to log out when I leave.

No, but this is only happening when I check the site from work. Scanning and whatnot gets done automagically by an in-house IT group.

Since this doesn't appear to be happening to anyone, I'm guessing that there's something funky about the browser I like to use. I'm going to upgrade my desktop and switch to another browser.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone
