I was told 2 weeks ago that this past monday we were going to have a house inspection...since we arent suppose to have the cat, I took her to a friends house for a playdate. Well, my so called friend treated her horribly, she didnt give her water and when I came to get her she was under the bed shaking! I was so upset. But anyways they never did the inspection on Monday, so I talked to someone yesterday, and they said that the inspection was post-poned till this Monday....
Well, there are a bunch of people in our complex that have cats, none that I am social with. Mind you, this is military housing. So, here's my question...what would you do?
The only thing I can think of, is i have a huge walkin closet and i was thinking of putting her food and box in there with her when they come for the inspection. But I wouldnt want her to meow....I am so confused, a cat friend of mine said to give her half a benadryl and she will sleep. Any ideas? Please help!
Thanks Erica

Please don't give your cat any drugs unless a vet tells you to and also tells you the dosage to use.

Is it possible you can board her at the vet for one day? Putting her in the closet is risky because if they hear her and let her out and she gets outside what then?

that's a tough one! I'd be SO mad at your "friend" if I were you!!!

I hope you figure something out! Is there anywhere else you can take your kitty for that day...? Someone you TRUST will take care of your kitty?

I was going to call the vet and ask about drugs, not that I want her to be drugged, but maybe just relaxed.

I looked at the boarding...its like 40 bucks! Too expensive for our budget!

I know there's military aide centers for naval families (too bad you aren't in San Diego or I'd volunteer to take her for the day). Call them and see if someone's willing to take her for the day. Maybe you also have something like Operation Homefront (something we have out here) where they have volunteers that would be willing to watch her for the day. You can also try your church or if you don't go to one, try a church.

I'd start knocking on doors at your complex. If they've had cats they'll have been in the same situation as you before, or will be in the future. It'll be a good way of setting up a support network for the next time this happens!
