Hi! I'm new to the site and so happy I found such a great place for cat info! I've had cats my whole life, and tonight I'm adding a new boy to my one cat household-so needless to say I am very excited and NERVOUS! Winston is the original; he's almost two and is a shelter rescue and my boyfriend and I love him. it was hilarious when we got him because my bf picked him out at the shelter but it was me that Winston fell in love with-he follows me everywhere! But he's alone a lot and came from a multi-cat home, so we think a companion might be a good plan. I found a guy on Craigslist who fosters strays off the streets here in Philly-gets them vetted, neutered, treated, tested, etc, and then finds good homes for them. So he has this awesome little boy who's almost a year old and is totally healthy (now that he's been wormed and treated for fleas, and is FIV/FeLV negative). anyway, I was on here all day yesterday reading all of your tips for introducing new cats, and i must say, there's a LOT of advice on this topic! I'm definitely trying the vanilla extract, the blanket/scent thing, and so on...I just wanted to say thanks! i'm going to try to post pics of my boys.

Hi Sadie!
It's nice to have a new member from Philadelphia, I haven't seen any Phillies lurking around these parts. I love that name: Winston. Very snazzy.
Yes there's a huge amount of just about everything here....and welcome!

Hi Sadie! I just want to welcome you to our family of cat lovers, and can't wait to see pics of your babies! I've introduced 2 new cats to my original one, Trixie, and although there are normally hisses for a while, it didnt' take mine long to love one another........hopefully yours will go just as smooth!

Hi and welcome to the site. Good luck on the introductions. When we brought our third one home from the shelter we had to segregate him as he had kennel cough and was on medication. Turned out to be a good thing as they sniffed through the door and got used to each other and then had short supervised visitations. When they all finally got together there were some short issues as they established their heirarchy but in no time they were running, playing and sleeping together.

Thanks everyone! The new guy's in and they are kind of getting their first meeting through a closed door...no hissing or anything yet...but the new guy is very people-oriented, so he's a little mad he's in there alone...but I am trying to spend time with him and just talk to him and brush him. Poor Winston(my original pooh bear) is so confused! He wants to check it out, but he's kind of shy about it for the moment. Oohhh, I hope this works out! hey, any hints on posting pictures? I'm having some trouble but will keep trying! -Sadie

Welcome sadie to Thecatsite I'm david p and I live in the western part of Pa. in Pittsburgh. I'm a cat butler to Nikki, a 4 y.o. tuxedo kitty, and Daisy, a 2 y.o. tortoiseshell kitty. I'm sure that you will like it here and get a lot of advice.
