It's gotta been photoshopped. Having been there myself, I know for a fact, a woman does not have such a small film of skin between the outside world & the baby! Baby needs protection.

I'm a rail (only gained 12 lbs during my pregnancy) and my child, while inside me, used to push her foot out (or something) like that; however I never saw the outline of toes, even with hardly any fat being there.

Still it's a cool pic. I like prego pictures.

fake-it has to be. Im only 87 lbs. and my son was 21 inches long and over 7 lbs. and he used to kick the heck out of me and I'd have to push the lump down when he pushed with his foot and there is no way you'd be able to see the outline of the foot like that.

I agree. I'm small and didn't gain much weight when I was pregnant. Although I could feel the outline of my daughter's heel when she was really digging them in - I could never see an outline in such detail.

I looked on www.snopes.com (A great website to check the validity of this "urban legend" sort of stuff.) Here's what they say.

This image, which purportedly shows the imprint of a fetal footprint on its mother's abdomen, captivated viewers when it began circulating on the Internet in August 2004. We do not as yet have any information about the origins of this picture.

Firstly, that footprint is much too large for a newborn unless he/she was a yeti.

The yellowish line is pigment. Most pregnant women get a pigment line there (mine was actually more brownish) and also I got pigment spots on my face which faded after Jennifer was born.

Yah that yellow line supposedly happens during pregnancy. I didn't get it. I did get stretch marks, but NOT on my stomach. I got them on my freaking collarbones because of the boob-growing-factor. 8 yrs later they're still there, ugh. But the boobs aren't. heh.

This picture does look a little far-fetched I guess. Someone sent it to me and I didn't know the difference since I've never had children, so I didn't know.

I love snopes!

I've gotten that picture before - always figured it was photoshopped. I've never had kids, but I've had pregnant friends and their bellies were always so hard! I didn't think it would be possible to see such definition.

A rudimentary knowledge of anatomy will discount this as being real. There us no way to get an imprint like that, through the wall of the uterus (thick and muscular), the abdominal muscles (also thick) and the natural layer of belly fat that all women have, pregnant or not.

It IS a nice Photoshop job, though.

I think it's a right foot, as well, as the big toe is towards the left hip of the mother...which would be a serious problem for the mother if it's real.

Great picture, though, photoshopped or not. Brilliant imagination behind it, no doubt.

Someone took the thought that you can see the baby move inside the belly near full term and photoshopped it, but it's someone who's never been pregnant or been around pregnant women because the positioning of the baby is wrong and you only see lumps and bumps (although you can figure out what limb it is). When I was pregnant I didn't get that far because my son was born so early. The pooched belly button and line are normal for many women. Some don't get them (I didn't, but I got these horrid stretch marks that looked like the baby was clawing his way out).
