Hi guys,,, I am on campus right now. I have a severe iron deficiency and I started my period today,,enough said, lol. I am completely dizzy, my whole body feels numb, except abdominal area,,Lord knows that hurts like hades. I feel like I am going to pass out and my vision keeps blurring. I cant go home yet, I have more classes. I have no meds with me,,does anyone know what I can do to keep my self from passing out and to help dull this horrendous pain,,I also have cysts,,that's part of the pain. But really, does anyone know of any iron rich foods I could grab on campus that might help, or anything. I'm desperate,, and by sheer dint of will I am not collapsing..lol. My hands are all red and white splotched and I feel like I cant stand up,,,help.

Don't screw around with this, go to a doctor now! Everything you have posted about rang alarm bells with me. I dealt with these types of problems when I was in my 20's. Female problems like cysts can turn out to be life-threatening if ignored or put off. I know school is important, but your life should be more important than anything else!

oh gosh!
I usually just go to sleep :S
I think you will have to ask the lady at the campus what they have. Because i have no idea what they sell/eat there.
Do you have a nurse at the campus?

The only thing I can thing of is to eat red meat? Any hamburgers around? Although I would agree - if possible, you should definitely take care of yourself and blow off classes... it sounds serious!

Most campuses have a nurse there at all times or at least one on call and it's no cost to students.

Try that right away. I have very simialr problems to you excpet, I'm down in bed for at least 2-3 days. I usually don't take any medication but I'm litterally sleeping for at least 2 days sometimes 3.

Get to a doctor or nurse asap.....your bloood pressure can drop drastically very quickly.

I agree. You should drop everything and go to the doctor ASAP. This sounds serious.

You need to go see a doctor right now girl. Splotchy hands, pain, and that dizzy / blurry vision thing are NOT anything to mess around with. Sounds almost like Toxic Shock??? You are certainly aware of what THAT is, right???

I used to get really low on iron, too, so now I take a supplement every day. Re: your cysts, those are dang serious, if one ruptures you could be in trouble (bleeding internally).

Also if you get too low on certain things, like iron & potassium, you could go into a coma or end up a vegetable. Seriously! It can stop your heart.

So do us a favor and get to a doc, school or not!!!

You really do need to get some professional help! Last time that happened to me I blacked out and was rushed to the hospital!

Let us know how you're doing!

I had the same problem and was in the hospital for 2 days. You don't want to mess with this. I would try to grab yourself some raisins, they are high in iron. You can eat them on the way to the emergency room. That is where I went and they didn't mess around, they got me right in because this is serious. I hope everything is alright, keep us posted.

I agree hon, however, Re: Iron rich foods, go for dark green veg, honey, or red meat if possible. Oysters. But go to the Dr. First.

Why are you messaging us? Oi, go save yourself.

I'm really worried about you. Please, go to your school nurse right away and tell her what's going on, even if its embarresting. She will most likely contact a docter. Please.
I don't want you, or anyone to get hurt. Mary Anne is right, this is serious, for sure. Have
