Shamrock's kitty acne

What I thought was just a little kitty acne has turned a little worse. Now the area is raw, swollen, and losing hair. Any idea's on what I can do for him? I've been washing the area once a day with a warm washcloth and the "dirt" washes away for the most part but the area is swollen and raw........and the "dirt" returns......Help!

Could it be from him licking himself or the other kitten licking the area? Scratching??????

My cat used to get this too. Use the warm washcloth with a little diluted Betadine on it as a compress. You can also use liquid calendula - dilute several drops in a little water and apply with the warm cloth. Keep the cloth against the chin as long as your cat will tolerate it (at least a few moments!), then gently clean the area with plain warm water and pat dry. . Try not to rub the area, it's probably sore and that will only aggravate it. Do this once or twice per day for about a week. If you don't see improvement in that time, you should give the vet a call.
