"The Day You Went Home" (poem)

Hi everybody, I'm going to share a poem sent to me by a member of FIP_support yahoogroup when I wrote to them that I already lost my kitty Fafa/Righty to FIP. I hope everybody who has lost a friend will find this poem helpful.

"The Day You Went Home"

A heart of gold stopped beating
Two shining eyes at rest.
God broke my heart to prove
He only takes the best.
God knows you had to leave me
But you did not go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day he took you home.

Thank you for sharing that beautiful poem! What a lovely, original way to express how we petowners feel when we lose a furbaby. I was just feeling a bit blue reminiscing about my past pets, including my horse, and reading that poem really helped me feel better. I hope it gets a lot of exposure - I'm sure it will help many others during those dark days of grief.
