Well, the other day Sunshine scooted between my feet and got out the door. She was gone for about an hour ( although i don't think she wondered far ) and then came home. Well, last night when I came in the door she did it again, also for about an hour or so.
Here is my dilemma. First of all because she is just now weaning the last two kittens, I haven't had her spayed as of yet ( cross your fingers she didn't manage to get pg ). I had intended on taking her in in December sometime. If she isn't in heat ( which i don't think she is ), can she still get pregnant? She only was in our neighbors yards from what I could tell, and I don't think we have any loose toms around here so that is in my favor.
And my other BIGGER dilemma is that the two kittens that we kept, aren't getting their first shots until November 20. What are the chances that she "picked something up" outside that could be communicable to them seeing as they aren't immune to anything yet?
Sunshine is up to date on all shots and is healthy. Kittens were vet checked and are due for their Distemper shots in a couple of weeks. Please help me put my mind at ease!!

The cat can bring virtually anything into the house. Generally the kittens work on thier moms immunity until they are about 6 weeks old and then it starts going down. I would be very watchful of the babies until they go in to get thier shots. You may also want to bump up moms spay. If she is going to get out often, you just never know. They wont let a tom near them if they arent in heat, so it's not a major worry unless she is in a silent heat.

Thanks Sandie, thats sort of what I thought, but I wanted some reassurance!! Lets just hope that she was not in Silent Heat! And I will call the vet to bump up the spay, you are soooo right.
