Cookie time is coming up again, and it reminds me of years ago when I too was a girl in uniform! I was always good at selling the cookies. My favorite were the Thin mints. Were you guys also a Brownie/Girl Scout??

I was a Campfire Girl. When they found out I ate all the peanuts and gave them away at the zoo, I got fired from CampFire Girls and had to turn in my beanie.

I was a Brownie! I don't remember a lot about it, it was so long ago, but I remember parades, & the uniforms. I hated the skirt because I was SUCH a tomboy, with skinny little knobby kneed colt's legs.

my dad forced me to join the brownies and i hated it

the woman who ran it was so mean! she used to yell at us every week to be quiet and we never got to work for badges.

i used to cry every time my dad dropped me off coz i hated it so much.

i dont see why that miserable cow even ran it. she hated kids with a passion! her husband even told us as much the times he came along. it was voluentary too so it wasnt like she was gettin paid....

weird!

Yup, I was a Brownie and Girl Scout. All the way up through Cadet. I even got the Silver Badge.
I remember selling all those cookies...
One year both my sister and I were going to 2 week camps, so we both sold the maximum amount we could get credits for camp...950 boxes EACH! Almost 2000 boxes of cookies in our front room - WALL to WALL!!! We bought 4 boxes of cookies from a friend's daughter who is in Girl Scouts this year. Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, Double Chocolate Chip, and Tagalongs.

ROFL!
Yeah, no way we can even keep up with Heidi. Look at that, jeez!
Wayward guides R US! But I was such a brat, I was not upset. In fact, it was convenient....a lot more time for hanging out at the Piggly Wiggly and stealing candy. I was a very naughty girl. Thank god I didn't apply to the Girl Scouts - they wouldn't have taken me in.

yeah heidi, putting us all to shame! i only had about three badges

i was a rather wayward brownie though. i started off with such tgood intentions and learned my brownie book of by heart but it was led in such a half-assed way we had to entertain ourselves.

one time my friend and i hid in a cupboard for 2 hours because we were so bored. The woman who ran it had to call our parents and say we were lost.

thinking back, she must have been frantic with worry but it serves her right for leaving us unsupervised. she used to wander off and leave us to our own devices quite often.

I was a Scout until college. My gold and silver awards are in my jewelry box. hehe My best friend's mom was the troop leader. She had us do all kinds of cool stuff.
Always hated the cookie sales, though. I could never get anyone to buy them from me. When I was little, we lived in the boonies so I couldn't go door to door, and my parents wouldn't take the order forms to work. Then when I was in high school, everyone had either already bought from or was waiting to buy from some cute little Brownie.... And of course I was built like a boy back then, so the "feminine wiles" weren't an option. lol

Well, I'll admit I had a bit of an edge.
My mother was very involved in Girl Scouts. She was actually the leader of my Junior Troop (I think that was grades 2-6?). She was also involved with our District. But she definitely kept it really fun.
But the cookie sales...that was all us. We covered mutiple neighborhoods each, and did all the legwork ourselves. No sitting in front of the grocery store for us!

My sister actually achieved the Gold Award, which is the equivalent to Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. So I was still second fiddle in my house...
