If you own an Akita please let me kno or know anything about them. I just came across a puppy not to long ago and I am clueless of to what I have got. My uncle says they are something special. I know they grow to 100 plus adn are very protective adn have bad tempers if treated wrongly of.
Its a sad story of how we got this puppy.

I have found homes for 2 dogs that I had gotten.A Rottweiler and a Blue Heeler. Never again willl that happen. Why to much for me to handle. The Rottweiler, that is. I can imagin now why they just left her in my yard.

I do not own an Akita and never have but I do deal with them on a daily basis.
If you had problems with the rottie- then find a new home for the puppy quickly. Akitas are a very large, very independant, very protective breed and can become quite dominant and aggressive. I would find her a good home with someone familiar with Akitas. If you can't find a good home I am sure an Akita rescue would take her. She needs immediate obedience training and care from someone who knows her breed.

We had a neighbor once who owned an Akita. Beautiful dog but quite protective and a watch dog. Something really bothered her one day and she crashed through the glass window to bust out of the house and injured herself of course. I don't know if I'd own one if I had another dog.

Just as Dr. Doolittle said, Akita's are not for the meek or unexperienced.

If you are planning on keeping this puppy start obedience training now. Do not wait until they are grown. Even a four month old Akita can be hard to handle (especially since he will already weigh about 50 lbs).

Akitas are usually dog aggressive, meaning they will try to fight other dogs, usually of the same sex. They have also been known to be aggressive towards smaller animals.

All these things may sound a bit scary to you but keep in mind that with proper training and guidance Akitas can become wonderful loving pets.

THanks for the info. I just been off line for a while. Right now the puppy has been at the vet since sunday since it has a bad case of parvo, the tests did come up negative twice for it though but they still thought it was. He will be home tomorrow. Macho is an Akita heeler mix, not full blood. Thank goodness for that. I have been tryn to train him and got the sit part dow now just gotta get the rest down or send him to boot camp for dogs, a training camp where they train the dog and the give lessons with you and the dog. He likes to wrestle with Gizmo. He dose pick on Tabitha but I correct him with the watter bottle which works wonders for clearing a room full of cats when its time to eat.
