Apparently it just happened and the old lady has blown her top. The ash is headed toward Idaho now.

They also just announced on the news that more earthquakes are being recorded inside the mountain about every two minutes.

My fiance called from work, he saw something on one of the satellite feeds and was wondering if something was going on with Mt. St. Helen's. I checked cnn.com... nothing. He assumed it was old footage. I guess he was wrong! Thanks for telling us!

I really thought it would make the local news here in Ohio.... dang. I can't even find anything on national news?

So, since I can't get any recent news, could someone please keep me up to date with what's going on?? I'm geology major, and I've always had a thing for Mt. St. Helen's because it erupted four years before I was born, to the day(May 18th). I also have family in the region, even if I haven't spoken to them since my parent's divorce.

(Yeah, I know about the usgs.gov website for Mt. St. Helen's, but I'm not sure it would be updated quickly if things were to progress.)

INCOMING~! really, Denise you are too funny. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PM'S EVERYONE - Sheesh! We're fine, we live about 90 minutes from it, and Pat, Mayree, and Leah on our Boards are much closer. I'm east of Seattle in the foothills of the Cascade range...this is closer to the Oregon border. They issued an "Ash Fall Advisory" overnight for counties around the mountain. Today it is cloudy and we can't see a thing!
Would you believe we all keep hospital masks in our desks here? After the huge eruption years ago that killed so many people, the city made it mandatory in our first-aid kits.

In a Missile LCC somewhere...
I have been watching King 5 news thru the net. The odd thing, and even the geologists are saying this.... the lava dome is still intact after that release yesterday, and on top of that, they can't figure out where the release came from within the mountain (Yikes). They were somewhat surprised though with the amount of ash and activity though. I don't want to speculate but... could there be internal rumblings with USGS? I'm watching the webcam... and its just amazing... I have a feeling its going to do something... soon...

Btw, its 411pm MST... watching it as we speak (the volcano) thru the webcam... its doing something...

Arg0, thank you for those links!

Whoever is running the webcam site really has a great sense of humour!
