dandruff on nursing queen

since just before the birth i've noticed Maverick has got dandruff and greasy looking fur on her back.

she is up to date with flea treatment and i'm pretty sure its not lice.

could it be because she has less time to groom since the kitten has got here? or maybe hormonal changes?

is this something i need to take her to the vets for or will it go away of its own accord?

shes a black cat so it's very noticeable.

yes she is on kitten food. i'll ring my vet when i get the chance and ask her what she thinks. dont really want to move mum and baby so was hoping this was something that would sort itself out.

i've been giving her chicken and fish along side her normal wet kitten food and there is dry kitten food all day for her to nibble on.

maybe switching from whiskas wet to a higher quality cat food would do the trick? unfortunatly the only wet food she'll eat is whiskas but her dry food is hills science kitten (as recomended by our vet)

would cod liver oil help?

(will be phoning vet in morning too, just wanted ideas)

Does she seem more thirsty than normal? What are her litterbox activities like? Is she potty'ing OK? Does she seem more hungry than normal to you? (Well, she probably is, nursing Momcats need to eat far more than they are used to eating - but I mean does it seem abnormal to you??)

i'd say eating and drinking were normal but not going to the toilet as much as she did before.

shes eating a lot less than she did when she was pregnant, about the same as before she was. have tried to get her to eat more by trying different foods such as chicken which is her faveroite.

we have food and water in two locations so its hard to see how much shes drinking especially with a cat fountain

just went to pet her and she seems a lot less greasy than this morning and dandruff flakes have gone where she perhaps had a groom. she doesnt seem to be grooming as much as she used to though
