looking forward to corpse bride? I am.. Personally, I think Tim's favorite actors and actresses are always perfect (but then I'm a fan of johnny depp and helena bonham carter without Tim Burton's approval.)
Johnny Depp is my absoulote favorite actor. Have you seen pirates of the carribian so funny but a bit scary aswell.
my mum amd I watched BIg Fish at the cinema it was really slow to begin with but by the finish I loved it Mum not so impressed .

Ryan,

I'm getting 'polled out'. But if others want to see a poll of when, I'll add it. Generally, I would personally think toward the weekend for renting a movie. I just can't ever predict if I'll have the steam to get through one on a weekday night. Last night was a total and complete fluke for me.

I also think the choices of films should be 100% up to you and the other person each week. That way, people who are interested in joining us will hopefully get exposed to movies they might not ordinarily choose. If the movie is something one is completely not interested in, then skip it for that week. A good example for me is any kind of horror film, the slasher variety. I just don't do them.

Now that I think about it, in my extensive poll-making experience (that would be 600+ polls in CT), even if I zero out the poll every week, it still will not let you vote again if you have voted. I would have to delete and recreate the poll each week.

Ahhh okay. Well forget that idea then. I'm just too full of ideas... or something.

OH! I just checked out the stuff on Corpse Bride...COOL!!! I hadn't heard about it (hubby's the movie buff, he keeps up with everything. For some god-only-knows-why reason, he failed to mention this one
) Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I really can't wait for this one!!!

And I agree about Johnny. Sure, he's easy on the eyes, but he is really a great actor. I've always loved that he took interesting roles, not just blockbusters. Even as Captain Jack Sparrow, which of course turned out to be a blockbuster, he still was an eccentric and interesting character.

I just wanted to say that I really liked Big Fish. With Tim Burton movies you really have to pay attention through the entire movie to get everything he's trying to get across, and even then I'm sure I miss a lot! Granted, the movie was odd, but it was still very touching, and suprising at time. (I was sitting there yelling - MOM! MOM! He was telling the truth! - because she had walked out of the room about 20 minutes before the movie ended.)

Yesterday probably would have been a better day to ask everyone, but of those whom are toying with the idea of watching the picks of the week, when might you be watching? Last week's movies were 7 day rentals for me, so later today I'll be returning them to get Big Fish and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, our picks of the week. I may watch one or both tonight depending on everyone's plans. Make sure you subscribe to each of these threads if you want to keep up to date.

I was planning on watching One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest tonight... however knowing me, I may forget. So if anyone sees me online at like 8pm, tell me to go rent and watch it!

Tonight is "Movie Night" at my place, too.

We aren't really watching a movie however. We're watching "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour". Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and & Ron White... & some other fella...

It's really funny!!! And here in KY I can relate to most of the hillbilly jokes.

Tell me how this works, please.
I have not seen BIG FISH.
Do we all pick a movie and everyone sees it and then reviews it?

Once a week two people will pick two movies... this week it was Ryan and I and we picked Big Fish and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Next week I will pick someone to be the "co-host". Everyone watches those movies, then discusses them in here.

Make sense?

hey, I never took a look at the movie nite thread, so I dont exactly know what's going on. But just on a side note, I watched the movie, "little black book" last night and really liked it. Very cute and endearingly funny. My current fave is still "the notebook". Boy, does that movie do it for me.

For anyone trying to catch on, the general guidelines for Movie Nite at The Cat Siteâ„¢ are in the link I posted. (Isn't the â„¢ symbol cute?
) Not everyone can participate every week, but I am commited to watching two every week, so I always pick one movie and someone else picks the second. Here's the link again:

Movie Nite at The Cat Siteâ„¢

Anyway, it looks like I may have blew it for this week, but I have some neat little ideas to spark interest. Wait and see.

P.S. Make sure you subscribe to the threads.
