I'm back from CA. The trip there was the trip from hell. The first flight was cancelled due to snow at about 12pm, then they rescheduled it for around 5 pm. So we get to the airport at 3:30 to be there in time for check in. So now we get there and they say the flight is delayed until about 6:30 or so, by the time that rolls around they change it to 7. Finally we get on the plane and we are ready to go, but of course that didn't happen. The plane was having mechanical problems so we had to get back off the plane. By now we already missed our connecting flight from Chicago to Sacramento. After about another 1-2 hours we finally get on and fly to Chicago. But now we have to stay overnight because they have no more flights going out. We were put up in a very nice hotel, we just didn't have anything but the clothes on our backs. The airline gave us some sample size products which did help a bit.

While we were there we all got called for jobs, isn't that just the icing on the cake? I missed an interview and the woman never called back after I left a message. I just got called by a temp agency and I have a temp job with long hours, but it is a job.
I start tomorrow, but mom already has a temp job and she has the car, so somehow I have to get to the temp agency and make it back before 1 and then I have a phone interview at 3. Ugh.

Meagan, I'm glad you're back safely, but what a trip! Isn't it funny (not funny haha) that the airlines think a few sample products will make everything all better? Well, can the airline get you that job that you missed out on because of them, too???
Congrats on the temp job though! In this tough job market, a job's a job!

Seriously! What airline was this? Help the rest of us avoid this kind of trouble.

American Airlines, and thanks everyone, I am just glad to be back. Although it would have been nice to get there as scheduled, they did put us up in a very expensive hotel, they gave us 2 rooms. That reminds me, I want to go see how much that hotel costs a night out of curiosity.

Wow, Meagan - travel in winter sure can be the pits!! My brother flies to at least one different state a week, year in & year out. And it seems that the weather sure is getting wilder & wilder - tornado in Fontana, last week, 100 year record flooding all over the state....I'm sorry that you had to have such an awful experience, but as my brother was told by a NWA pilot, "It's better to be 10 hours on the ground wishing you were up there than 10 seconds up there wishing you were back on the ground". And, 1 day late is better than 100% dead. I am hoping & praying that a better job is waiting for you out there! In 1988, I missed out on several jobs that I really thought I wanted, due to freak incidents; out of frustration, I walked into a restaurant near the busstop (My truck broke down & I was unemployed) and asked for a job, and the next 12 years, had the best, happiest job of my life!! (it ended only because some jerk recklessly crashed into my vehicle in a blizzard). But I understand your frustration with unemployment - I had 2 daughters, one with brain damage, & 2 cats to feed & care for. And it was very unprofessional for the one woman not to return your call - doesn't she care that the job was important for you? Well, if she can't return a simple phone call, it's likely the whole workplace there is equally chaotic! I'll light a candle of hope for a great job for you! Susan
