Well, my HDL is 51, so I divided that into 196 and came up with 3.85. Is that good ???Originally Posted by Mom of Franz
Suzie, You should also ask your doc what your cholesterol ratio is, that is seen as a more "telling' number. If you have a copy of your blood work you can find out yourself. Divide your HDL (the "good" cholesterol number) into your total cholesterol number, in your case the 196mg/dl. For example if you total cholesterol is 200 and your HDL is 50, you get a ratio of 4:1. The goal is to keep it below 5:1. Hope this makes sense!
