Cholesterol down!!!!

Just had to share.....in October, my cholesterol was 256! Now it is down to 196!! I've lost 16 pounds, started walking a mile every day and have cut out all the wrong foods!! YIPEEE!!!!!

!!!! That's really great.

I have naturally high cholesterol and got mine down by doing similar things too. I also adopted a very low fat diet (with the consent of my doctor - nothing dangerous) along with a calcium supplement to make up for the missing cheese etc. It really worked.

We measure our cholesterol differently - mine went down from 6.9 to 5.6. The government recommend keeping it below 4.5 but my doctor said this would be fine to keep me off medication longer!

Suzie, You should also ask your doc what your cholesterol ratio is, that is seen as a more "telling' number. If you have a copy of your blood work you can find out yourself. Divide your HDL (the "good" cholesterol number) into your total cholesterol number, in your case the 196mg/dl. For example if you total cholesterol is 200 and your HDL is 50, you get a ratio of 4:1. The goal is to keep it below 5:1. Hope this makes sense!
