For those of you who DIDN'T e-file (either this year or in the past)...

do you know how accurate irs.gov is when it tells you how long it'll take to get your refund back?

I wish I would've efiled (especially now that's it's free on irs.gov) but oh well. It says on the site that they have my refund and I should get my money by April 5th, unless there are errors, etc. Is that right? Or can it happen earlier?

Oh yeah, I set it up to be directly deposited into my account.

I was just curious... thanks!

In general, the earlier you file, the earlier you get your refund. I filed by tele-file this year, and I got my refund in less than 2 weeks, direct deposited.

I think technically I filed on the 21st of February, as I dropped it in the mailbox the Saturday before.

What's tele-filing? Filing over the phone?

Eric filed his return February 27 and Friday his refund was in his account. But they adjusted one or two things, and they will go over your return pretty well. He filed for $2,700 back and he got $2,200.

So I got my question answered today... I checked my bank account online today and saw that my tax refund is in! It's still pending but it should be in by either the end of today or Monday (which is fine). So that took not even 3 weeks! Pfft and they said I wouldn't get it til April 5th!
