YAY!!
Ok, I had posted a while back about getting another cat in the behaviour forum because I was afraid of bringing another male in that is the same age as Rocky...didn't think Rocky would appreciate it too much, but anyway....I went up to Pet Smart yesterday to see if he was still there...no, he wasn't...they told me a very sweet elderly lady had adopted him..
anyway...
I was sad about that..but I just got a phone call from a friend I work with, and she has a friend who has a cat that recently had kittens..I think she said they are 9 or 10 weeks old...I am going to meet her this week and go look at him.she says he is a solid black one, and a boy..(just what I wanted..didnt matter anyway, but he's a dsh and I am soo thrilled to pieces! Now would you all help me think of a name for him? I am going to take my camera to take some pictures of him...I know all of the important steps with indroducing Rocky and Fluffy to this new baby...Ok, I am totally excited but nervous and afraid that R & F won't accept this baby...I guess we will see....I will keep yall posted though!

Oh congrats, I wish you luck with the prospective new kitty! I'm in a similar boat that you are in- looking for a new kitty that will be compatible with my resident cat. Unfortunately, kittens are a bit rare around here right now.
I'm sure you will get many wonderful name suggestions from TCS members, but my advice is to watch the kitten's personality emerge- then the right name will come naturally
Good luck!

oh yay!
that is so exciting!! I too love my little black dsh girl. And, I am also trying to convince my boyfriend/roommate to get another kitty. I would love for Ebony to have a playmate. However, we are moving this summer into a townhouse we bought so I think he wants us to wait until after the move takes place to think about another cat.

Anyways, congrats and have fun!! As for names (pepper, inky, midnight....i am at a loss for more ideas at the moment) before we got ebony brendan wanted to name her snowball after the cat on the simpsons.
i wouldn't allow that.

Congrats on the kitten!

You might want to keep him isolated from your other boys for a week or so, and let them sniff around the door and get used to his smell. Then let them have brief, supervised visits, longer each time. After a while, you should be able to leave them alone.
That's what I did with Zoe when I got her. She and MK went through a rough period at first, mostly because MK had NEVER been around another cat, but they're just fine now.

I think ironic names are kind of cute. You said he was all black. Why not call him Ivory? Or Whiteboy? LOL.. I think it'd be kind of funny & cute to name him something that is the complete opposite of what he looks like.

My resident kitties are 1 boy and 1 girl...not both boys...lol...just wanted to let ya know...I had planned on doing this at first and leaving the new baby in my room during the day while I am at work..there is lots of room in there but ohh boy! R & F won't like that door being closed at all! They are use to having all doors open and everything for themselves!
