This thread caused me to scavange through my pantry and hunt out what chocolate I could find - sadly I only found some chocolate girl guide biscuits but they were good enough for me!

Well, I thought I'd just have to be envious of you two, but I have some chocolate covered peanuts. I love those!

Peanut Slabs are my absolute favourite as well!!!!!!! Whenever my mum sends me some, my friends in the US think they are too hard to bite into

At the kitty's beck and call
Chocolate in all shapes, sizes and flavours is good by me. Except I'm not supposed to eat it anymore. I make exceptions at Christmas, Easter and on the odd special occasion. But yummmmm, this thread is making my mouth water - I'd better stop and look at a different one instead

I have to be honest...for years (adult, not child...as a child, it was all good!) I didn't get the big fuss by women over chocolate. Yes, I liked it, I even had my favorites - white chocolate almond bark, snickers bars, o-henry bars (see a theme? chocolate and nuts!).

Now, thanks to ??hormones, it's all changed. Now, as I work (sorry slight downer note here) to keep my blood sugar levels good and avoid a diagnosis I don't want, I'm measure my bs after my one meal of the day with complex carbs...I am learning what my body "over-reacts" to. Guess what. Chocolate...dark bittersweet or milk, is now my friend

All time best chocolate to date - Emily's chocolate covered macademia nuts, some ghiardelli, and an organic bar I tried last week with bittersweet chocolate, hazelnuts and currants....ooh...so good...and oooh...no problems with my blood sugar after having a serving as part of my dinner.

I no longer like white chocolate..now it's too sweet, and I prefer the dark because it has a higher concentration of cocoa, and generally less sugar.

Best brand I've heard of and not tried yet is Valrhona.

PS...anyone on a diet who still has dessert at times, I have an incredible recipe by Wolfgang Puck for Flourless Chocolate Cake...and less than 1 cup of sugar...so a single serving is very doable...this cake is SOOOOO good, it's like eating a brownie
If you want the recipe, pm me.

Mr.Whittaker(I think it's his Grandson or something) lives in my friends street and when we were younger guess where we used to go trick or treating. We would always come out with lots of Peanut Slabs and Sante bars! I don't like the coconut slabs though.

If you can't have sugar, then one can substitute the sugar with splenda to make it more diet friendly. Wonder if that would work?

I don't know...with my particular body issues, anything that tastes sweet is just the same as eating the real thing - I release too much insulin either way..so I don't use any artificial sweeteners, it's either unsweetened, or I use the real thing and balance it within the rest of the meal

I love a smooth chocolate, the kind that melts in your mouth.
