I don't go out much except for ice curling every two weeks, so two weeks ago I thought I would start renting a movie every Friday whether I have someone to watch it with or not. So far I rented "28 Days Later" and "What Dreams May come". It's been good to get me away from my work. Tonight I'm going to rent "We Were Soldiers" and some other yet to be determined title. The theme of this thread is that one or two movie picks will be announced each Friday and then anyone who has nothing else to do can go rent the same movie and at least have someone to talk to about it when it is over. Maybe it's too late to join in for tonight, but we can be flexible with Friday and Saturday. I'll probably only watch one of the movies tonight anyway. Does anyone want to join?

Okay, I thought of some general guidelines for some of the finer details. They aren't written in stone, but it might prevent some misunderstandings. As suggested, I also made myself a Yahoo Messenger account just for this purpose. It is listed in my profile details. Any other suggestions to make it go smoother are welcome.

General Guidelines Revision 2.1.4.2.8 and three quarters
  • Movie announcement will be every Monday in a "Paws and Reflect" sticky.
  • Ryan always picks a movie.
  • The co-host/hostess picks exactly what he/she wants.
  • Movie selections do not have to be new releases.
  • Anyone planning on participating is encouraged to make suggestions.
  • In general, the viewing window will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but those who need to watch the movie earlier in the week due to their schedules can do so.
  • The Host/Hostess can choose which movie to watch first.
  • We can even loosely agree on a time if we like.
  • After the movies are seen, the co-host/hostess chooses someone else to be the next co-host/hostess, preferably someone who participated in watching at least one of the previous weekâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s movies.

What about having a different person each week picking out the movie? Not sure how that would work, as far as PICKING the person to announce the movie.. but... it's an idea.

Okay, well I haven't picked up the movies yet, but it is flexible because I have a 2 for 1 coupon. I'll just get two: "We Were Soldiers" and the prequel... "We're Not Soldiers Yet"

That would be fair. Next week I'll choose someone to pick a movie that participated in this weekend's pick. Then that person gets to choose someone else the next week How's that?

That would be a girl movie/guy movie thing. Right now I'm watching some stupid, obscure, documentary (and I mean that LOOSELY) called The Beatles Diary. This is a DVD that you need to watch when you have friends over and all have had too much to drink. Our trip down memory lane is guided by Alf Bicknell, the Beatles driver from 1964 -1966. It's so sad that it's funny! Hubby picked it up at Walmart for $5.00. Ooops! Got off track!
Now I feel bad that I'm making fun of the poor guy.

What kind of movies do you like, Ryan?

Thanks I will tell him it's my obligation!

Ari - I saw that you wanted to live in Connecticut. Is it because you watched Christmas in Connecticut?

I would, but my private jet is under scheduled maintenence right now, so I'd never be able to drop them off in time. The helicopter is just too slow.
