Man allowed to keep over 100 pit bulls....

Guys, this has me so enraged.
This guy here in Savannah was found with 128 pit bulls chained up in his back yard. They were drinking dirty water and most were malnourished and underweight. 7 of them died from malnourishment or disease. Well, Judge Coolidge (whom I have had the great honor of working with (and I say that with the UTMOST sarcasm)) charged him with animal cruelty (all he got was a fine) and is actually ALLOWING him to keep all of the dogs that haven't died!
Now this jerk has already PROVED that he cannot take care of these dogs properly and the judge lets him KEEP the dogs that are still living? If someone had a bunch of babies and a couple (or even one of them) died from malnourishment/mistreatment, the parents would have been locked in jail and would never get those kids back. I think the JUDGE should be charged with promoting animal cruelty!

isnt there some sort of law saying he cant owner 128 dogs to start with?!

the judge should be made to suffer like those dogs. let him drink dirty water and not recieve adequete nutrition.

maybe write to local media to name and shame the owner/judge

I don't know...if there are laws limiting the number of pets you can own in GA, they're not being inforced This has been all over the news here (and we heard tonight that it's getting national attention), so everyone here knows the judge's name AND the dog owner's name and where he lives. All I can say is this: Judge Coolidge is an elected official and us animal lovers will remember this come election time!

how stupid can some people be?! how the hell this man was allowed 128 dogs to start with is beyond me!!! then being able to keep them, i'm speechless

was he breeding them? what did he need 128 for? i hope to god they are all spayed/neutered

That judge should be brought before Judge Judy! As a side note, a friend of mine who is a social worker had many cases brought before Judge Judy in family court (not the TV show) Judy is a real animal lover. That guy in Georgia, should be chained outside in 10 degree weather.

I think what he "needed" or should I say is using them for, is dog fights.
Maybe one day they'll all turn on their owner is all I can hope for.

The man is insane and the judge should be chained up and live like the dogs for a while

Man there are no words that I can use on here to describe what I am feeling right now I know in this county of GA(Thomas) you can only have 4 dogs total. What in the L is wrong with that judge??????? If I even let one of my dogs have dirty water or starve them to the point of death I would be in the round bar motel and would deserve it too. Sounds like Judge Coolidge is an idiot and you are right an elected official will be hurt by this come the next election. But in the mean time what about those poor dogs?????

Well, the guy (I forgot his last name, but his first name is Florida) says he is going to sell some and give some away. Why? Because the judge says that all dogs must be checked out by a vet every THREE years (again, NOT GOOD ENOUGH) and I guess Florida can't afford it. The reason he says he has so many pit bulls? "Some people collect coins, I collect pit bulls." UGH UGH UGH UGH If he didn't live in such a dangerous part of town, I'd go free all those dogs myself or do SOMETHING to help them

The whole thing is just HORRIBLE!!! SO the human is allowed to keep the dogs he has so badly neglected. The JUDGE is guilty of animal abuse as far as I'm concerned. I pray for the welfare of those poor dogs. :bawling

Go figure. This guy is allowed to be cruel to those dogs, but responsible people who own exotics keep getting BAN laws pushed on us. What a wonderful world we live in

WHAT A HORRIBLE JUDGE! GOOD GRIEF! Around here this words of "I collect pitbulls" would have got him slapped harder. Its called Animal Collecting, and its not stood for. ARGH If you cant afford the proper care dont have them! I know someone who has about 60 dogs, they are all fixed..and all go to the vet when needed. She does her own vaccines. Yes its alot of dogs..but living on a farm people just seem to "drop them off" so she keeps them makes sure they get everything they need. But this guy...UGH already PROVED he cant take care of them...ooo if i had an rotten orange and could throw all the way to Georgia I WOULD!

What has happened to sound judgement? Sanity? Common sense? The nose on people's faces?

Well, why stop at an orange? Make it a rotten tomato! Or, even better, a bag of flaming pit bull poo....

I hope that the D.A. has the "huevos" to file an appeal in state court & meanwhile ask for an injunction that demands the dogs be placed in foster care!! I wonder if the judge would be so lax if the defendant were an elderly woman & the animals were cats...Those poor dogs..could you imagine having puppies under those horrible conditions????? Maybe there should be stronger federal laws after all...

The DA in this case wanted Florida Hunt to serve 70 days in jail (still NOT ENOUGH) and pay $7,000 (still NOT ENOUGH). However, the one thing she did pursue (which obviously did not come to fruition ) is for Mr. Hunt to not be able to own another animal ever again, "not even a goldfish." Wish she had found a way to get the judge to rule this way, but I hope she's not used to prosecute more animal cruelty cases....
