Brand new here. Our cat gets regular treatment for hair balls yet goes out eats grass and vomits. Is this normal?

Thanks, thought it might be normal. Guess need to make sure she stays outside until she does her thing.
It's normal I know but I discourage it.

grass in primative times was a digestive aid, but today grass isnt pure it has soil contaminationand pestisides, evan if you dont use these your neighbors due...

It sounds like grass isn't the best thing? My Wallace LOVES grass, craves it, goes bananas over it, so I do buy him organic wheat grass. In the summer, when he escapes outside, which he is not supposed to do,
that's the first thing he does is go for the grass, which he devours with the biggest purrs and muching. He really is happier when he has his grass, he just loves it so, muches on it every day, several times. He doesn't throw it up either, from what I can tell. Is this OK?

I haven't tried growing it. I've done alfalfa before for us but haven't tried wheatgrass. I just buy it at the local health food store. Is it hard to grow because I have thought of trying to grow it, although it really isn't too expensive to buy.
I buy cat grass once in awhile for my group. It makes them puke once in awhile, but it is mostly hairballs. (YUCK!) I get my cat grass at PetSmart. They love it. one pot once in awhile, and they are happy. They never go outside so I never have to worry about them getting anything other then the grass I grow for them, with no pesticides, chemicals or other bad things in it.

Not all cats vomit after eating grass. It does soothe their tummies, and if they have stomach upset they will go and seek out long blades and chew it up to help them regurgitate whatever they ate that upset them. But when their sytems are normal they will just eat grass for the pleasure.

My Wallace definitely eats for for sheer pleasure. When he eats it, he purrs really loud, he chews and purrs, it's so cute and from what I can tell, he never gets sick so I don't think he is eating it for tummy problems. He just loves grass! Thanks!
My cats are indoor only. Oliver LOVES spinach, lettuce, and fresh catnip. I always figured it was a grass replacement to him...well...he might have an ulterior motive with the catnip.

Jamie loves grass, and eats it every day, though he certainly doesn't vomit that often, and in fact has rarely brought up hairballs. We keep a big pot of organic Cyprus grass on the coffee table for him to munch on, and also have a small plot of organic oat grass in the backyard for him (he goes outside on a leash).
