Okay, so we know everyone has silly forum fears that they never talk about like in this thread, but what about forum pet peeves? They're obviously not serious, but they may make you shake your head sometimes. You can vote for more than one at a time too. Again, I canâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t think of everything and itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s not that serious, so I wonâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t be including things that most people donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t like here such as flaming. In a minute or two, the questions will magically appear above and in no particular order.

I don't mind long winded posts, but I find myself skipping through posts that are long winded and only have one paragraph. It's hard on the eyes.

I have to say that overall we're pretty lucky here. I lurk at some forums (non-cat related, some Harry Potter) that have a large number of very young members. *Everything* Ryan listed is found at those sites. I usually find myself gritting my teeth at Netspeak (besides some of the common ones like LOL) or scrolling through posts where the reply is one line and the signature is one *screen* large.

I marked the last one as well. Also it kind of bugs me when someone asks a question and gets answers but never acknowledges that they've read any of the answers.

Definitely those that ask for advice, then don't take or don't reply...I especially like to know how their kitties are doing.

I also feel bad that some people have been here like 2 or 3 months (due to having to re-register etc) and have THOUSANDS of posts...makes me feel bad for not having so much time on my hands and that the board knows them better than they do me!

Sometimes they don't take the advice because it isn't what they want to hear. Some people come here looking for what I call "a miracle in a can." And there just aren't any. When you give them good solid advice and don't play up to them, they can get mighty ticked off sometimes.

I didn't see my worst pet peeve on your list Ryan- people who post bad advice while passing it off as "a miracle in a can."

Oh I selected a lot of them... bad grammar is my main one though. If you're foreign, I forgive you... but if you write really long run on sentences and don't seperate things into paragraphs, I get bored and quit reading.

And as some of you know, I'm kind of a stickler for spelling! But, it's my job and unfortunately it spills out... sorry!

I agree with most...those who ask, don't like the answer, and don't take solid advice. And my other thought was the same as Mary Anne's. People who don't really know what they are talking about giving out bad advice as an authority. I guess both of these are more than pet peeves to me, because on a board like this we are many times dealing with literally life or death. Bad advice for a health problem, obvious. Bad advice for a behavior problem could mean relinquishing the cat to a shelter. Bad advice for ferals could mean a lot of bad things to both feline and human...

As for actual pet peeves, I have to agree with chronic bad spelling and grammar for native English speakers. Must be the English major and former teacher in me.
And of course YELLING.
