I'm going in about 5 months, sense school is over in 3. Oi....

I just don't think I can do it.

I mean, here in junior high, I'm not very successful.

I'm a geek too.

I feel like I need to fit in, and I won't be able too. I'm overwelmed. I wish I could take homeschool!

I just don't know what to do....

I'm so scared, and I'm such a wimp. I just can't imagine myself in highschool. I don't know how I'm going to keep up. What do I do?

I really need some vibes, and someone to talk to. I'm sorry I always have so many problems....

Awww,
to you hun! How do you feel that you are not successful in junior high? Transitions are hard for almost everyone. Remember how you felt when you were first going into junior high? Probably almost everyone here has felt the same way as you going into HS, I know I sure did!

Sorry I don't have any really good advice for you, but will surely be sending good vibes and
to you!

And who knows a few weeks after you start you'll probably be wondering why you were so nervous in the first place!

dont worry about being a geek, it never did Bill Gates any harm!

i prefer the term individual. you'll find pretty much everyones in the same boat as you. once you settle in you'll be fine.

Well first of all Miss Jenny, quit worrying about it. I too was always nervous about school, and I made it through! So will you!
Just be friendly, yourself, and you will be fine. I always figured and still do that if people don't like me for me, it's their loss, not mine. You'll be fine. It's natural to be nervous, but remember, no one is better than you. (even if they think they are) haha

We all went through it, and you will too.....just remember, we're here for ya at the end of your day!!

We all felt nervous about changing schools, going to college, and eventually about new jobs. It is normal, and as they say, I am sure you will have nothing to worry about. The more senior you get, the more different interests are catered for and respected, certainly by teachers, and eventually by students too. Try and develop your skills to the benefit of your fellows, and they will end up coming to you for help and advice. Good luck with it.

Honey, you're not alone! Trust me, there are many kids going to your HS that are just as scared as you. Even the ones that might appear confident are secretly wanting to be liked and fit in too. I say get involved in extra curricular activities that you might enjoy and that will open you up to other kids who share the same interests. This is a very exciting time for you indeed!

I agree with what the others have said. This is an exciting time, one which you should feel some nerves about but don't let it worry you too much! I too was never one to be a part of the 'popular' crowd, and over time I learned that was OK! I made sure to keep around a few great friends and the experiences we shared were great! I am still close with 2 of a friends that I went to junior high and high school with (SharonKay being one of them). What got me through HS was being in one or two extracurriculars and getting a part-time job when I turned 16. I met just enough people that shared the same interests as me and actually liked me as a individual. We'll be here for your routing you on as you start on this adventure.

Aww sweetie.
Well, you know all of us here are always willing to talk and lend a helping hand. I know high school can seem like a scary transition, but it can truly be a great time as well. High school was a BLAST for me and whenever I think back to it now it's always with fond memories. I assure you that it can be the same for you as well. My advice to you would simply be to find your niche. If you're worried about making a smooth transition, the easiest way to do so is to join something you love. Whether it be a club that supports a cause you really care about, a sport, an art, or whatever it may be; being a part of something really grounds you to the school and gives you something that you can associate yourself with. I made the dance team for my high school at the end of my 8th grade year, and entered my 9th grade year with 35 automatic friends. Aside from that I joined numerous clubs, participated in drama, and got a job when I was 16. High school will be what you make of it. With that said, choose to make it a fun and exciting time. Besides, we'll all be here for you through it all.

If you are starting highschool soon you must be my age! i'm pretty nervous to, but im not even going to regular highschool! im probably going to do a virtual school where real teachers talk to you online and you get sent homework and stuff online, and you don't have to leave your house, beleive it or not i have been homeschooled my whole life, so going to highschool makes me soooo nervous, sometimes i will admit i wish my parents put me in school in the first place. anyway, i send hugs
to you, and you know what maybe you can talk to your parents, and maybe they will let you do virtual school, but if you do go to highscholl, im sure you will be fine!

I was like you....I didn't like middle school, but I was terrified of high school even more. I was not popular in either, but the trick is to join after-school clubs that spark your interest and you will make friends that way. Regardless of what others say, just surround yourself with people who like you for the wonderful person you are. The years will fly by faster than you know!

It's okay to be nervous. Just be yourself and try to remember we are really all the same on the inside.

You know, I was just thinking about my hard time transitioning into highschool today. I promise that it's really not that bad, it's scary at first, true, but you'd be surprised how scared EVERYONE else is as well. Because everyone is scared it's so much easier to meet new friends, because that's what everyone wants. Don't worry about it, you'll find new friends and your own place in highschool. Yes, I was a geek too, but I was a "band geek" and loved my other band geek friends dearly. My best advice is to embrase who you are and you'll soon find that there are other people out there like you.
Also remember to take time to back out and BREATHE...sometimes people forget.
*hugs*

What the others have said is so true - starting a new level of school is scary for everyone. I remember how scared I was and my children were starting their next level of school. They had all the same fears as you - but both of them really blossomed and grew in the new school level and found people who shared similar interests.

My daughter describes herself as a geek and is proud of it. When she was in the 11 -14 years school she found that there were not many people like her and she felt quite alone. She was not one of the popular ones because she was *geeky*. Now she is in the higher school and the students around her are preparing for what they do after their formal schooling has finished there are more people like her - and others WANT to be *geeks*. How about that!?!

Be proud of who you are.

You're always such a lovely person to talk to, you shouldn't have any worries.

I'll be sending lots and lots of good vibes your way. PM me if you want to.

I hated middle school, but I actually enjoyed high school. My advice would be to get involved in some sort of activity, like others mentioned. You might want to stay away from the chess club or AV club
but finding a cause to volunteer for, like Key Club or a literacy program or something can really help out. Heck, I even walked around dressed in all black with multi-colored hair and piercings most of the time and rarely got made fun of. People found out that I was nice and actively involved in things and that really helped. I managed to make friends with a really broad group of people through volunteer work.

Jenny, sweetie!
You will be fine! Trust me when I say that you will not be the only one scared, nervous, ect. And that is because you are in a new place and it is NORMAL!
You are NOT a geek! You are my friend and me and my friends are cool so you are too!
LOL

Just be yourself! You are loved by SO MANY people because you are you! Remember that!

You know where I am, and you know you can talk to me about anything!

Love ya my dear!

I was a geek. Well not really a geek more like a freak? I don't know. Join stuff. Like band camp or something, at least if you are a geek you can meet other geeks and then you won't be as geeky in comparison. And besides a lot of supermodels and brain surgeons and stuff were geeks. Geeks are cool. Just don't believe that 'you'll be cool if' crap, you know as in sex, drugs, shoplifting, whatever kids do these days.. because really it's not cool. You'll see when you're 25 how those "cool kids" turn out..

Aw, thanks.
I feel a bit better already. Because my grades are awful, and people have to help me with every thing.
I actually wasn't so nervous going to junior hihg, because I had been in grammer school for 6 years. I'm just getting used to middle school.
