I am only new here, so if someone has covered this before, i am sorry for goin over old ground, i did have a quick look at past post's and found nothin.

I have an interest in computer's and security, and have kittens when i see the mad things people do, or more to the point not do :-)

If i may offer some advice!

Passwords:
Most people use crappy passwords, like "mary1" or "fido" !
Any word found in a English, or any language dictionary is open to being cracked. "fido" would take a few seconds to crack.

So here's how to create a password that can not be cracked , unless someone if prepared to spend weeks trying:

Create a sentance like "My cat is so lazy 2 lazy 2 do anything!" , from that you get a password "Mcisl2l2da!"
It's impossible to crack , but really easy to remember, just recall the phrase and use the first letter in each word, i threw in some numbers and an excamation mark to add to it.

If you use Internet Explorer then don't!
Go to www.mozilla.org and get "Firefox" and use that instead.
It will reduce the amount of spyware you get to a mere fraction of what you had. It will kill popup windows also.
It's really easy to use and as quick as IE, and it's FREE!

You should also use "Ad aware" from here : http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ , keep it updated and use it regular. it's FREE also :-)

Of of course you should have a good Anti Virus proggie and a firewall also.
I could go on but i won't bore ya all :-)

Sorry if i did bore ya, but if one switches to Firefox then i've done a good days work !

That's me off my soapbox !

Regards

"morzilla"? Don't you mean "morezilla"... which is better than "lesszilla"?

I completly agree with Adaware. I also use Spybot and Spyware Blaster. What one doesn't get..the other does. And run them AT LEAST once a week. There is a lot of bad stuff out there! AND BY ALL MEANS!! Keep that anti-virus updated! If you need a free one, AVG is great!

I have Mozilla foxfire and will never go back to explorer. Never ever ever. I have had no pop ups and very little spyware. Best part is it is free. Also I have 2 anti Virus programs that I update weekly and also 2 firewalls. I don't do any online shopping so no credit card info is kept here BUT I still am playing it safe. Better to be safe then sorry.
