kind of a silly question, please bear with me...

ok, both my babies sleep with me at night, and because Mica's so young, and frankly still pretty rambunctious, I make sure I keep a few toys in the room to keep her occupied...


Thing is, I woke up about a week ago to her...ummm...grooming my armpit, and she's been doing it every morning since.
I'm afraid she'll make herself sick on my antiperspiant, so I wash every night before I sleep.
I guess my question is, does anybody know why she does this?

Baby is bonding with you. I am envious. Your kitten is bonding with you in a way that only a precious little baby could - by finding a warm, friendly-scented place to deposit her scent onto you. I'll bet she also kneads a little there too? Maybe even noses around, pushing into you with her head?

It is good that you are washing - I don't like anti-perspirant at all but it seems a necessary evil in our society so of course, I do use it ... but it has bad zooky in it and I wouldn't like a kitten to be licking it.

yep, she gets right in there, and you've no idea how hard it is not to squirm around, as I don't want to startle her, or scare her off.
Muchly glad it's normal behaviour too, and totally flattered now. I'm besotted with her as if that weren't obvious

I know how you feel. Bijou just turned a year old and every night before we go to sleep he has to suckle on my neck, knead my face and neck and give me licks on my face. Then he stretches out beside me facing me, puts his head on the pillow and goes to sleep. After a little bit he moves and curls up under my chin facing away from me.

I had a siamese cross that did the same thing.

Merlin tries to do the same thing on occasion, even though I shower every night.

My kitten used to do this and it used to really hurt as she has really sharp claws!!

So I weaned her off me and on to a teddy next to me - but I'm worried the fibers might come out and end up stuck in her tummy. Do you think thats possible??

I heard that the armpit is very attractive to cats, because of the intensity of your scent or something like that. It sounds nice that your kitty is bonding with you in such a special way!

I'd be pushing kitty away cos i'd be a bit freaked out!

Awwwww how sweet is that!

When I am in bed, Daisy will come and snuggle up like that, she pummels and dribbles all over the duvet under which my armpit is! So now I leave an old flannel shirt on the bed there, and she has adopted that as her 'snuggly'. Perhaps you could try that with a used piece of clothing?

We had a cat once (years ago) that would always do this to my Dad, but only if he was wearing a smelly old jumper that they both loved! She would get really carried away. I suppose cats don't think of smells as good or bad as we do (unless it's banana of course..); we might be a bit put off by an armpit smell, but I guess it smells good to a cat!

One thing, though: does it tickle?

Wow! You all have cuddly kitties! I'm a bit jealous. Not sure I'd like the armpit thing though but all that cuddliness sounds awful sweet. Mine like to be by me and do a lot of affectionate kitty things but definitely not like what you guys are all describing although I did have a cat years and years ago who sucked on and kneaded on my ear.
