Just a reminder if anyone has or have had or know anyone with Somalis to ask them to share about thier furrys it is really hard to find out how they react to everyday life and I am interested in learning as much as I can before my boy comes home. I have searched here but the posts are really old so if anyone can help i am most appreciative! Thanks!!!! Donna

Somalis are extremely intelligent and they can be great trouble makers. They are usually better off with another kitten or playful cat to keep them from finding their own fun. They are known to learn how to open cabinets, so if you have anything you don't want him in to I would find a child lock. You can buy a book on Amazon.com titled The Somali, or something like that. I have it and it is a great book that talks about the breed, and cats in general. What color is your boy you are getting? I love Somali's, I will be getting a Somali and a Sphynx in the future for showing.

I have three Abys, which are more or less short-haired Somalis

They are wonderful cats! They want to be everywhere that you are, and they are busy, busy, busy! And they are the most intensely affectionate cats I've ever met. Khepera wraps his forepaws around my hand and "holds" my hand sometimes. Osiris is going to knock me out one of these days, he headbumps me with such force! Titi likes to ride on shoulders.

So tell me about your Somali-to-be! Is he a kitten or adult? Mine were all adults when I adopted them, I would have loved to have seen them as kittens.

He is adorable! Have you come up with a name for him yet? My Abys all have Egyptian names, it seemed fitting.

Sometimes child locks dont work so well. My brother has a kitty that is part Somali and it learned how to open cupboards, so they put on childlocks and now he has even mastered those. He is one smart kitty.

You would probably get a better response by going to www.meowhoo.com and looking under breeders by breeds and emailing the breeders of this cat. I am sure they have stories they would love to share with you about the breed.

Thanks for the replys all! My breeded has told me all about them but she does not have any as a personal pet. I have devoured every breeder site and info on line. what I want is everyday owners experiences, I want day to day interaction with family and other pets and pictures not show pictures belly pics crazy pics stuff like that. Woo Hoo
I just heard I am picking him up 3/22 so exciting! Not sure of a name yet I have some in mind but I need to see him in my home to choose.
