Hi to all from Jakarta, Indonesia, and the United Nations system.
A couple of weeks ago, a street kitten, about 4 weeks old, insisted that I take her home. She thrived for a couple of days - until I accidentally stepped on her. She twisted away so my full weight did not land on her, but she immediately went into shock. We took her to the only 24-hour vet in town, who gave her fluids and a coagulent to stop any internal bleeding. She was in a coma for a couple of days, but gradually came out of it - and she has not been the same since.
The problem is, I think, that she has lost her sense of smell - most cats would shy away very quickly from a pungent odor like strong menthol (Vick's), but she just sits there. And probably because she can't smell, she's not eating, except for the forced feeding we're doing - but this is unsustainable, and she's losing weight. We're getting about 20 cc of liquified ScienceDiet for kittens into her a day, and cramming a little chicken or fish down her as well.
If anyone has any advice or suggestions, I'd be grateful. I've already noted, from previous threads, that Periaction or Vitacal may be good, and I'll look for these here - but I'm not that optimistic I'll find them; and I have the recipe for kitten glop.
Many thanks! Len
