We just got new dining room furniture with built in cushions on the chairs. What are some good ways to cover the furniture so they will not tear it up???

I bought these fabric covered cushion's at K-Mart. They tie onto the chair back. I ue them in the kitchen on vinyl cover seats. I seem to have bathroom towels in other places. Not very pretty. I used to have a problem with the piano bench seat. I had to recover it. Since then my Oreo no longer bothers to jump up on it. Must be something in the way it smells.

My grandma used to have these, like plastic seat covers for when little kids would eat at the nice table, but I have no idea where she got them. I dont even know if that would be a good idea, my kitty has this thing w/ attacking plastic. But I'm pretty sure if you ask at the store where you got the furniture, that they either sell, or know of someone who sells protective covers for the furniture. Probably at an exhorbant price, but what can you do
