I've been wondering about this for some time so I thought I'd ask here...

When a product such as shampoo says on the bottle "this product not tested on animals" does that mean just the finished product hasn't been tested on animals or does it go on to include each of the seperate ingredients they use as well. Because the ingredients they use could have been tested on animals before they purchased them from other manufacturers.

Anyone know or have any thoughts

Thanks!!

I know Body Shop products are all organic and free of any ingedients that have been tested on animals or are produced through child exploitation etc, but I don't know about other brands.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I've just come from town and there were people asking for signatures along with handing out leaflets on animal testing

Naturally i signed it and one of the forms is to fill in for Tony Blair the prime minister, so thats going in the post to him as well!.

I chatted for a while with them and we all agreed that thankfully although it's slowly!, their starting to sit up and take notice of the general public now such as the ban on fox hunting, but we have to keep shouting our mouths off until we get the message through!.

i think that for them to claim not tested they have to have used ingredients that werent tested on animals after a certain time

eg. they can use ingredients that were tested before 1987 but none after

"PETA" could probably tell you. I know their German chapter publishes lists of "approved" products like cleansers and cosmetics sold here.

Ewwww! Sam, that couldn't have felt too good!

Thanks for the replys everyone.

Why do they want to hunt foxes for anyway? They are such beautiful animals. Hunting for food is one thing but hunting for sport makes me

Usually only products labeled "finished product not tested on animals" have ingredients that were tested on animals, but the actual shower gel in it's final form was not. Products labeled "cruelty free" or "not tested on animals" should be totally free of animal testing. Peta does make a list of these products, as does the Vegan Society. I know Paul Mitchel products and Body Shop products are not tested on animals at any point, but that Bath and Body Works products contain ingredients that were tested on animals, hence their "finished product not tested' label. Alba is a really great brand that is not tested on animals at any point.
