One of my cats, Oreo.

taught herself how to play fetch when she was around 9 months old. I wasn't shocked as I've had cats that played fetch before. But she jumped it up a step. She began to leap to catch her favorite toy (a milk jug ring). She doesn't catch it like a dog she catches is with her front paws, then landing, sometimes not too gracefully, on her hind paws. I have no idea what made her decide to do this, and I've never had a cat or even heard of a cat that liked to play catch. Has anyone else?? Or do I have a possible pet star on my hands lol
By the way when she is doing this my other two cats watch her like she is out of her mind.

W/ the best cats
Well, I've seen my Joji and QT catch flying birds and bats that way.
It isn't as efficient as catching them with their mouths so thank God, most of them get away.

I wasn't even thinking about thier hunting. I guess she just put a hunting spin to her games of fetch.

My first cat loved playing fetch, especially with feathers. She would bring her feather stick to one of us, drop it, and expect us to throw it pretty far. She'd try to catch it mid-air and would always carry back for a repeat. Neither of my two cats now are interested and it makes me a little sad. It's so cute when cats play fetch!

My siamese cat plays fetch too, he just hasn't shown any interest in even trying to catch his toy. He just gets it and brings it back. And complains till you throw it again. lol

Oreo will be famous, April!
Sierra will catch her treats in midair with her front paws!
My childhood kitty who went to Heaven 8 years ago at the age of 14 would run after and bring back her favorite balls!

Tibby does both of those! He loves games like that!

Molly will collect toys and bring them all to me - even when I try to take them back to where they belong!

We all seem to have very clever kitties!

At the kitty's beck and call
Apparently, Singapuras are supposed to like playing fetch - but mine doesn't, she does the opposite (figures
) she likes to play carry instead. She gets her bungee mouse in her mouth and drags it to somewhere else in the house to play with. If she thinks there's a danger that daddy might be planning a trip, she carries it into her cat carrier to play with it so she won't miss an outing.

Chloe plays fetch too! She just started doing it in the last couple of weeks and it's SOOO funny! She'll drop it next to me and if I don't pick it up and toss it, she'll pick it up and drop it in my lap!

Ebony does the same thing...she'll catch what we throw her, but she'll never bring it back. She just sits and waits for us to come to her and throw it again.
I really want to teach her to bring it back to us. If anyone has any ideas on teaching a cat to play fetch I'd love to hear them!!

That must have been cute watching Adelaide catching snowflakes.

All my cats catch things in their paws.
