my kitty (emily) needs good thoughts :(

i don't post here much; lately i haven't posted at all, since i really shouldn't be typing because of injuries to my hands. but my kitty needs your good thoughts.

on 1/28/05, she got a clean bill of health from a new vet. within 24 hours, she was at the emergency vet with "wine-colored" urine.

i got her a cats-only vet, run by a board-certified dvm who has devoted his entire practice to felines. since then, i've found out she has 5 stones in her bladder, as well as possible kidney disease (i should know by today if she does have it, and how bad- the vet seems to think she does). she's lost a pound over the past 3 weeks.

she'll be 4 years old next month. too young to be so sick.

here are some pictures- as you can see, she clearly prefers drinking from my water filter rather than the $85 or so worth of cat fountains behind her in the photo. (i purchased one water fountain, then a second to see if she'd like it better after i saw she was licking my filter).

please think good thoughts for both of us. i'm worried sick.

emily's bloodwork is "perfect"; the vet thinks she lost weight and came up with an abnormal kidney reading because of stress, vaccines, hospital stays, vet visits, and dietary changes over the past few weeks.

from here on out it's rest and relaxation for emily! i'm even giving up my favorite chair for her.

That's great news! Hope the rest cure has her feeling much better soon!

my hands hurt from typing too much again today; just wanted to add here that emily is a very, very nervous cat (been that way since she was a baby; i think it's just the way she is); so it makes sense that she would lose weight after enduring so much. poor kitty.

Ah, I live not far from Tacoma and take my cats to a vet practice in Lakewood that I love, it's worth the drive

do you mind sharing the name, in case we have problems with the current vet? i don't anticipate any since they are really, really cool and seem to know their stuff; but we've been through 3 vets with emily- she's difficult to treat because she gets so nervous; and i always like to have a backup on hand.
