I love hearing stories about how two people found each other. How did you meet your significant other? Here's my story:
While I was in college, I worked as a bartender at a Sportsbar and Grill type place. Shy was a Sales Representative for Anheuser Busch (Budweiser) and my bar was one of his accounts. One day while I was working, he came in and sat at the bar to eat lunch. It was a slow day so I had plenty of time to talk to him. We talked for 3 hours!! A few days later, my General Manager (who was like a father figure to me) called me into his office and said that we had to talk about something. I went into the office, thinking I was in trouble. He looked at me very matter of factly and said,"The Budweiser guy wants to go out with you. He wanted me to find out if you would go out with him before he asked, don't tell him I told you this". Of course I said yes, so my General manager gave him the thumbs up to ask me out. He made me wait a WEEK before he asked me out. I saw him 2 or 3 times, expecting to be asked out! Anyway--he finally asked me out and we finally went out. I liked him a lot but I wasn't ready for a relationship (just had my heart broken 6 months earlier). As hard as I tried, I couldn't stay away from him. I fell in love with him so fast! He is the kindest, funniest, coolest, smartest, most generous guy I'd ever met. The best part? I had my kitty Sandy when we first met and he LOVED her!! We went on our first date October 1st, we were officially a couple by mid November and engaged by July! We were married in Kauai, Hawaii the following July! I guess now we're living "Happily ever after..."

Come on, come on!!! I wanna hear everyone's love stories!!

aww, how sweet! that is so funny he made you wait a week before asking you...

me and my husband met 4 years ago this month actually... we were juniors in high school and we had just started working on the musical "Little Shop or Horrors". We saw each other often but never talked. The director ordered bowling type shirts with the musical name on it and i ordered one size larger than i thought i would need, because unfortunatley i have linebacker shoulders and usually need a size bigger in shirts... not this time
so i scanned the entire auditorium and saw him taking his out of the package... he didnt look like he would say no if i walked up to him and demanded that we switched shirts... so i did (i actually asked very nicely) turns out he had a medium
(we both needed that size, he is a stick), so we switched shirts, that got us started talking, and by the end of the week we were spending every waking hour with each other...
then he decided to join the military, then told me that we shouldnt get married yet.. he left to basic training, called me crying and said that we the stupidest thing he had ever said, he didnt realize how much he missed me and he wanted to get married right away.... he also talked me out of joining the military because he didnt want me to be bossed around so much and he didnt want me to be away from him... i thought that was so sweet... so i didnt join and i married him... now he gets on my nerves
, but he still doesnt say no when i ask(or demand) something from him

he also got the news at the end of last year that i am going to join the AF after all (after 2 years of regreting(sp?) not joining) he wasnt really thrilled

i wouldnt change anything though... i have enjoyed every minute

What a great thread!

Max and I met over the phone. I had split up from my husband nearly a year ago and was happily single and having fun with the girlfriends, living by myself and having a ball, basically! I work at a hospital and Max works at a neighbouring hospital and he was transferred to Gastroenterology in August last year. So whenever I rang the gastro unit I started getting him on the phone and he just cracked me up constantly. We used to joke about going on a date and then one of the other ladies there decided she wanted to set us up for real, so we all three decided to go out for a drink. But she kept having to cancel, and by then Max and I had been talking on the phone outside of work and also emailing each other a lot, and getting to know each other really well. The first night we met last October we just clicked instantly and we have been together ever since. There was no silly game-playing or mucking around. We were a couple from the word go. We are moving in together in April. He is wonderful and funny and perfect for me and I couldn't be happier. Plus he's absolutely gorgeous and it was such a nice suprise to find such a babe waiting for me at the bar when we first met!!

I forgot to add that when we were emailing back and forth one of the first questions I asked him was what he thought of cats. His answer was `I rate cats very highly'... and in fact he has two Iceberg Abyssinians called Princess and Mena who WORSHIP him, as do my girls.

Brandon and I met almost 6 years ago in high school. My friend Kristen and I were in the same gym class while Brandon had a spare class. He saw me everyday and eventually told his friend who happened to be Kristen's older brother that he thought I was cute

Eventually through them we started talking and 6 years later
we are engaged!!

Alan and I met through mutual friends. He was gorgeous, very very funny, kind, caring and generous. We used to flirt and talk alot and then started to spend alot of time together, we then went on some dates, and shared a few kisses.
Then his family moved out of London so I thought we'd still swap letters and phonecalls and be friends for life.
Once he went though I realised he was more than a friend to me, my heart was breaking in two and I cried buckets...but there was no way I could tell him this! So we plodded along for a few more weeks, calling and writing...Then one morning I got a letter from him, I opened it and the first line was ' Ash this isn't working' ...my heart dropped at that point and tears were running down my face...until I read on ' I hate it here, I miss London, I miss you, I can't live without you, I love you ' after more crying (with happiness) I rang him and told him I loved him too..within two weeks he was back, living with his aunt and we were a proper couple, we have been together 20 years and married for 16 and I still love him as much, actually more than ever. Who says young love doesn't last!

I was 18 working as an assistant manager of an art store. Dean came in and went to the custom framing counter. I told the other girls he's mine, don't you dare go over there. I took his order, smiled/flirted, and after he left, I tried on his last name. Yep, sure did... it was weird... Told everyone not to call him when his order came in, *I* would.

Well, it was fate because the manager above me called him behind my back (she was nasty) and then proceeded to yell at me all day about an order that she thought I lost. I was ALL OVER the back of that store looking all over for an order that she claimed I lost (which I didn't, she found it later - she never sent it out where it was supposed to go! arggh!)

Anyway, one of the girls was walkign around looking for something too and finally I said, "What are you looking for?" She said, "The Otte order.." She didn't see it had been sitting under her nose the whole time so I grabbed it really quick and said I'll take care of it. Dean asked me out as I took his credit card! lol! I said I couldn't that night but handed him my business card (I used to paint portraits) and told him to call me.

That was Friday. Monday afternoon, I was getting ready to go on a date with some other guy I met, and he STOOD ME UP. I had never been stood up before and my mother and I decided to watch movies and eat the rest of the night... but before I changed from my "going out" outfit... Dean called me and asked me to go out that night.

While we were out, he said, "I have to tell you. I'm 26, I have an ex and a 5-year-old daughter. I looked at him and said, "I just got out of high school - I'm 18".

When I got home that night, my mother kept saying "do you think he is the ONE? He was soooooo good looking." (he was a serious body builder too so that helped! lol!) I said, "Nope, he's not my type." and left it at that. My parents are strict Southern Baptists so I wasn't about to tell them anything else.

I swore I wouldn't have anything else to do with him because I didn't want baggage. Needless to say, my heart didn't listen to my brain, I couldn't stay away from him. I also couldn't hold his past against him. He made a mistake, everyone makes mistakes..... On top of his good looks, hot body, and all that, he is the most kind, caring, awesome, hilarious man (he's so quick witted - has an extremely high IQ and his brain works so different than most people - it's awesome - he keeps me laughing
) 6 months after we met, we got married. (Oh yeah, telling my parents we already had a flower girl was neat! lol! but they love Dean now... they are so close to him.)

We've been married 10 years and going strong. We have an 8 year old son and a 5 year old daughter or our own

And as usual, I have a photo... here are our kids...

Under the cats, mostly.
I actually met Rune online - in a chatroom frequented by my ex! We'd chatted a couple of times before, buton the night that I threw my ex out, I decided that I'd not had a night out on the town since I'd discovered I was pregnant (And Alex was 6 months old by then) so it was my turn, because that man had been out every weekend since we moved in together. I was fed up of being "housewife" chained to the sink. I went out, I got incredibly drunk - which yes, I know, wasn't clever and I've not done it since! When I came back, my ex was in bed asleep and I logged in. Bearing in mind I was very drunk and very emotional, I announced to my 9 "big brothers" that I'd thrown the ex out and I was going to be a single mum.... well actually it came out as something like "IO'Vew Trhowns out Asas anmsd I'mn a singklt Mmmumn now!" well... Rune spent the night translating my drunken typing and consoling me. At the end of the night he announced "stay where you are, I've booked a flight for a couple of weeks and I'm coming out to make sure you're ok". The ex moved out within about a week... and a week later Rune arrived. He'd dropped everything to come and see me a couple of weeks later just because as a friend, he was concerned about me. Things just blossomed form there. We've had a long distance relationship for the last nearly four years (four years in March!) andnow we can finally be together for good
God bless the internet - they say that search engines will find you anything.... well... it found me love!

when i was still living in frankfurt there was a new girl who had moved there form norway. So we hung out lots and saw lots of frankfurt.
THen she wanted to get a boyfriend so we looked up through yahoo in germany.
She speaks german really well, she is natural with languages.
Anyway i msged all the people who seemed to speak english and i went out.
Later on that evening i got a reply from one of them
(mind you i msged him 3 times just he had different accounts and different pictures) Lol! we started chatting and we swapped numbers.
My friend had to go away for 2 weeks for her work so on the monday she left he called me and asked me to meet up. I was so nervous as i was 16 and he was 19 we met at the tram station and we went to a park, then we went to mc donalds. I had a really fun day and we met up alot after that. As we went out though for the next 6 months after that there were lots of tears and arguements.
Untill he nearly turned 20 and finally put him self together.
He will be turning 21 next week and its been a year and a half that we have been together.
He says he wants to get married but he wants to get a stable job, and save alot of money before we take it a one step further

Very interesting stories. Great thread!

I met mine just before graduating from high school. It was the usual weekend party and he was the dj. Well, when he saw me, he left his post and asked me to dance. People were requesting songs but he ignored them. He made me feel extra special then and all the time after that.

Jodie, your kids are darling and everyone's stories are so cute and unique
Mine may pale in comparison.
I was hanging out with my little brother and his friends one day and I sort of half-heartedly asked them if they knew of any nice guys that were my age. My bro's friend Hilary said, "How about Brad?" So after hearing a bit about him and after many scheduling hassels, we finally set up a group date to go see "American Wedding." Well, I don't really believe in love at first sight, but it was something like that when I first saw Bradley. We hit it off and had the typical getting-to-know-you, dates-that-last-until-2am type relationship right off the bat. Living in Savannah and meeting in the summertime, we were able to enjoy moonlit walks on the beach each and every night

It was about 9 agonizing months of dating until Bradley told me that he loves me, but he said he needed to be 100% sure that he did. He now says I'm the only person he is sure he has ever loved (I can say the same). It doesn't hurt that my mom loved him right off the bat, too
So that's our story. Not as exciting as y'alls, but I couldn't be happier with him and that's all that matters for any of us

I met Chris when I was 21 (I'm pushing 33 right now). I was married, had been married for about 2 yrs. We (the hubby and I) were in a band, a somewhat popular band and we had a bit of a following, tons of friends and neighbors who would pop by every week when we'd practice, and of course come to all the parties and such that the band played. Well one of the neighbor kids brought Chris and his group in to join the following. We all partied together, and well even though I was married I always liked Chris. He was a downhome country boy, gentlemanly and always smiling.

Me and the hubs divorced; but 5 yrs later, started talking again, and became friends. Well I had slowly started seeing and talking to the 'old crowd' because the hubs band was of course still together and actually playing more venues and doing much better in this city. So anyway long story short; last Halloween, the ex-hubs band played a party at a bar, and Chris was there with the usual crew; I was just having the time of my life!!! At the end of the night, I plopped down next to Chris, who I'd chatted with here and there, and said, "are ya single now, because I am, and I've always liked you!". He was sort of shocked because basically I asked HIM out. Anyway I had heard from the exhub that Chris and his fiance broke up months before the party. I had just broken up with my boyfriend. And it's not that I was ready for anything; I just knew I really liked Chris, we always had something to talk about and he was always so kind.

We've been dating now since around Thanksgiving... we talked a whole lot and then moved it up a step around the holidays. He was a total lifesaver when I was in the hospital New Years Eve for 5 days. He was the one who sat with me when I was out of my mind in pain, and then on Vicodin when I was slobbering all over myself. He sat there with me prolly bored to tears as I dozed & hacked, even telling me I was beautiful, when I'm telling ya I looked downright horrid after dropping 10 pounds & being that sick.

The best part? He is a magnet to my cat Dusty... Dusty sticks to him like glue when he's at my house!!! My other cats love him and he is a definite 'cat man'.

What fantastic stories! I love hearing all of them.

Brendan and met in HS about 7 years ago working at Target together. Him and his best friend, Jason, both worked at Target and I actually had a crush on his best friend first. I asked Jason out first, and was completely and utterly rejected (ahhhh, HS romance). When I went away to college I still worked at Target on and off during breaks and holidays. Over the course of the next 2 years Brendan and I where the ones who ended up hitting it off. During my first break from freshman year at college I was given his AOL IM screename so we'd chat on and off. Fast forward to 2 years later and we were chatting almost daily. He was my bud. We'd talk about all our problems about dating, and with finding a suitable significant other. Little did we know that the two of us were the ones who were meant to be together. Finally Christmas break during my junior year of school Brendan came over to my place to have some drinks, pizza, and watch movies. Well get a little alcohol going in the two of us and the truth sure does come out. We had our first kiss that night (as unromantic as it is) and the rest was history. Since then we have been inseparable. Its been over 3 years now that we've been an official couple. I love him so much. We're getting ready to buy a house together and I know that wedding bells will be in the not so distant future too.

Awwwwwwwww, yea!! They would look so cute together....

Brendan and I joke that Ebony will be our ring bearer. We'll tie a little red velvet pillow to her collar and then shine a laser pointer down the aisle to chase so that she knows where to go to bring us the rings.

But perhaps we'll just have to have a dual wedding with ebby and tuefel instead!

(btw...i haven't gotten to tell you yet, i love the fairly new siggy!!)
