Hey everyone
! This might be a really odd question but I've been wondering. I have a calico and a tabby. Every once and awhile I will catch them licking/chewing on plastic bags like from a grocery store. Does anyone know why this is?

Thanks,
Caitlin

In some plastic manufacturing they use animal renderings, making plastic bags very attractive to cats. They either eat or lick the plastic or pee on it

My cat loves to eat plastic...but I try my hardest to keep ALL plastic bags from him.

It really isn't a good idea to let them chew on the plastic because unless you are very vigilant about watching your cat with the bags ... they can chew off pieces of the plastic which can then cause an obstruction in the digestive system. Be careful.

Yep, that's my Aurora. You leave a plastic bag on the floor and she pees on it

Thank you everyone!

I'm glad my kitties weren't the only ones.

I think part of it is the texture, and the noise that a plastic bag makes when a kitty chews on it. Like kitty bubble wrap.

My kitten used to chew on plastic-covered wires, too. I went through more phone rechargers! She'd get into them not matter how I had them covered...

As she's a torti (notoriously skitsy) I thought perhaps she was self-medicating with electro-shock therapy...lol

(She outgrew it when she quit teething.)
