Is my kitty eating enough and what should I do if she's not?

We just got out kitty (Xena) a week ago so I'm hoping this is just part of her adjustment phase and will end real soon. She barely eats her food. She won't touch the wet food and she picks at her dry food. She obviously has an apitite though because she'll eat as many treats as we'll give her and she's always trying to eat our people food. We've tried giving her different types of wet food (chicken, beef, fish) and warming it up but she still doesn't want anything to do with it. The dry food is the same type and brand that I was told she's been eating for the past few years. We even tried giving her a different brand of dry food, hoping that maybe she'd be more interested in this one but she just picks at them both. How much is a normal/healthy amount of dry food if she's not eating any wet food? If she doesn't start eating more within the next couple days should I take her to the vet?

How much does she weigh? The general rule of thumb is one ounce of food per pound of cat but I usually allow more for growing kittens. Try not giving her so many treats or even better, use the dry food biscuits AS treats. Give them to her out of your hand.

If she hasn't picked up soon or if she looks like she is getting thin, by all means, contact your vet.

How old is this cat? Under what circumstances did you get her from? Is it possible she is pining for her old owner, or did another cat in her previous home pass away prior to you getting her? You call her a kitty but then mention that she has been eating the same food for the past few years/

You need to be sure that she is eating enough food, so she doesn't become ill. If her body is not receiving the proper amount of food, she can fall ill quickly and then you have a real mess on your hands. If she is going after people food, chances are her previous owners fed her a lot of table scraps and could have created a finickly eater-

I don't know how much she weighs because we don't have a scale. I'll pick one up soon and find out.

We've tried that and it didn't work.

We bought her a week ago from Town Cats, a no kill shelter that keeps their cats in foster homes until they are adobted.

I'm pretty sure she wasn't with her previous owner for very long so I don't think it's that. I was told that she doesn't get along with other cats at all so she's been an only cat for quite some time.

I know, that's what I'm worried about. I'll definitly take her to the vet if she doesn't start eating more this weekend.

Thank you both for your help.
