Don't we all love vacuuming??

I knew from the start that getting my little baby was going to mean A LOT of this chore as my husband is pretty allergic (he is such an animal lover, its a very tragic!). So, I vacuum everyday and we are all happy.

My question is, has anyone found a vacuum that they really like??

I currently have two-an ancient Electrolux canister which doesn't really seem to suck up much, and a DirtDevil bagless upright which has a powerful suction but the wheels and brushes cant really handle the hair and every other time I vacuum I end up doing surgery on it to get the hair untangled.

Any and all suggestions are most welcome

he says im childish that i still want teddies around the house
because his sisters dont like them and she is 13 now.
she thinks its childish but its my collection.
a few weeks ago i got this huge pink teddie.
i have a pic of it with teufel
anyway it was sitting on the couch and bf wanted to sit on it...
then he got really angry and i told him to leave me alone so he went and pulled its leg off!!!!
I was crying for atleast half an hour he did feel bad.
he said he was sorry and that he would get me a needle and some thread so i can fix it!

I've found that Oreck's work great! We have one at our apartment that you can lay flat on the floor to get to all of those hard to reach places, and it's got a really great suction. It's a reallllly old one, as it was my roomies mom's first, but I'd say that's another testament to its quality!

My DD has a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner too, and you would think she was a SALESPERSON for that company!!
She cannot say enough good things about it, and I've decided when my vacuum bites the dust, that I am going to save up and buy one too!! They bought their's just before they brought my "micro-preemie" granddaughter home. She had been on a ventilator from birth (at a weight of 2 pounds!). She went home at 3 1/2 pounds and was on oxygen still and a bunch of breathing monitors. They have a dog and wanted as LITTLE dander and fur in the air as possible (They also got a very good air filtration system on their furnace...) But, that vacuum cleaner is AWESOME!!! AND, my darling little Emma Anne, the micro-preemie is now 1 year old and is thriving and healthy and as CUTE as a button!!!
(Can you tell I am a PROUD Grandma??!!
)
AND...Here's a picture--NOT of a vacuum cleaner, but of my little Emma Anne!!

I can't be sure, but I think they probably are expensive. Ours was a hand-me-down though so it was technically at no cost to us. hehe. The one we have is actually very quiet, which I like.

Now Dyson, THOSE are expensive!!! They look awesome though!

I'm no authority on vacuuming (hubby does it), but this little beauty is something I can identify with. You have every right to be a proud Grandma - little Emma Anne is stunning

Has anyone tried the Dyson canister model? My Eureka Europa works very well, but if it ever breaks, I'd consider a Dyson.

Oh yes. My vaccuum success story:

I vote for the Oreck Anniversary Edition. It's only 8 pounds, good for putting up onto cushions, dining room chairs, sofas, futions, beds, you name it! You can lift it ONE HANDED and clean off stairs and all the above-mentioned thingies without thinking "I hate Vaccuuming".

It's so lightweight it is unreal. It's the bag-kind. I tried the bagless kind and it was a TOTAL catfur nightmare. I stand by Oreck.

I came upon the Oreck in a kind of *ahem* beggar manner: My mom was watching my house and my cats while I was in the hospital back in early January. Well she totally HATED my bagless cheap vaccuum. So she brought her Oreck over; and she came to the hospital and said, "I gave you that thing by the way, it's so great you can lift it up and clean all of Snickers long fur off of those cushions..."

So now when I run the vacuum it takes half the time cuz it's so lightweight and I can just lift it up one handed and clean off those kitchen cushions, the dining room cushions (which truthfully are not mine, they belong to the cats) and even my bed pillows which get covered in fur since 5 of my 6 cats sleep with me. It's just wonderful!

(and yeah it was free... but mom felt bad since I was so sick)

I have an Oreck also and I love it! I've had back problems for years so having a lightweight vaccuum is wonderful and it doesn't wear me out vaccuuming.

I guess I've had mine about 3 years and paid just under $400 for it. It's worth it though! I also got the smaller mini vac for free with the big one. I use the small one for doing baseboards, the car, ceiling fans, windowsills, etc. because it has a shoulder strap and I can carry it all over the house with me.
