Jazzie's growing while I watch (five and a half months old) and while she doesn't feel especially bony and she's got a good, round tummy under all the fur, I'm wondering at the moment if she's a little on the slim side. She eats like a horse and gets through the same amount the boys do- is it a good idea while she's growing like this to give her a few extra snacks a day, or is this just part of her growing? She's still on kitten food for all her meals, although she also likes the boys diet dry food and has some of that too when they do. We have set mealtimes since Mitz is a born hoover, I can't leave dry food out around the clock as I used to!

Some kittens (and puppies too) go through the gangly teenage stage, you where they look scrawny and out of proportion. As long as she doesn't seem to be starving and has gotten a clean bill of health from her vet she is fine.

Thankyou, that's reassuring! She's permanently starving, I think she'd eat the pattern off the plate if I fed her every hour on the hour, but with the amount of energy she expends in bouncing around it's not so surprising. The boys eat the same amount she does, are both twice her size and Mitz is probably a few pounds overweight, so I keep telling myself she's eaten enough. I think having had James who was rescued and had been SO malnourished as a kitten, and it was the root of so many of his later medical problems, I'm always overanxious in the first year about making absolutely sure the nutrition is right and good.
