Hi everyone.
I am trying to find an alternate and healthier option to Hills Science Diet which several vets have recommended to me. I know that it's full of fillers. Sophie, my 5 month old Ragdoll kitten loves it. But I would like to try something not too much more expensive (as I find Hills Science Diet to be pricey for something so mediocre in quality!) and also available in my area...I live downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada if that helps at all.

Thanks.

Hi,
I feed my kittens ProPlan brand kitten food. I like it better than other kitten foods out there. Unfortunately, I think it's around the same price. Also, I live in New Mexico so I don't know anything about the price in Toronto or if they even sell it there...sorry. Good luck though

My cats love Nutro Natural Choice which I get at Petsmart.

Jules what vet are you a tech at? I am originally from albuquerque, but moved to Denver in 2000 at which time I decided to go to Bel-Rea and become a vet tech myself.

Foods you can get from most major stores here in Toronto are Wellness, Nutro, Royal Canin, Iams, Eukanuba, etc. From the vet's Hill's and Medical are the two big ones. There is a brand called "Felidae" that a lot of small pet stores are pushing that is crap.

I am feeding my kitten Sebastian Purina One kitten formula, he loves it, I had him on Science Diet for a while and changed over and he really likes it. In the past I have fed my kittens Royal Canin Babycat and they liked it alot too, although its more pricey than the Purina.

I currently go to Global Pet Foods and find quite a wide and varied selection. In the past, Nakita has been on a rotation of Wellness, Natural Balance and California Natural (both canned and dry foods).

Here's a list of store locations for both Global Pet Foods & Pet Valu in downtown Toronto. Hope this helps!

Global Pet Foods

*2019 Yonge Steet
*1753 Queen Street East
*THS - 11 River Street
*419 Eglinton Avenue West
*Annex - 171-173 Dupont Street

..................................................

Pet Valu

*Galleria Shopping Centre - 1245 Dupont Street

I have one kitten now and he especially likes the the Max Cat Gourmet Classics by Nutro both the canned and the dry. All my cats really like the Royal Canine, which also has a kitten formula.

Thank you very much for those locations. I had come across the Global Pet Foods when I googled for Pet stores in Toronto. Only problem is that it's a bit far from me. But not a huge deal. i can subway.

Anyway, I went to the Annex pet shop today and bought some Wysong kitten food (dry)...surprisingly, it was cheaper than the Science Diet Hopefully it'll be a good decision and Sophie will concur.

My kittens ate--and thrived--on IAMS. Their coats are lush and the litter box has less waste. Hope you find something your kitten likes soon. (Mine didn't like Science Diet.)
