But you bring up a good point.
It amuses me how frequently one of these "I love TCS" threads pops up. It doesn't surprise me. This place is great. But it's made me think about what's different here.
Around Valentine's Day, when the
quotient -- always high -- skyrocketed, the penny dropped. I was musing about it to my husband, and asked him (in jest) if he and his buddies on Major Geeks (computer techie stuff) were exchanging valentines. The toothpaste splattered over the mirror, and he looked at me as if I had dropped in from another planet.
My point was that those guys come together because of a common interest, too, but it's because of a love-hate
relationship with that common interest. I think it is safe to say that, to a person, those who come here and stay, do so because of a love
relationship with our common interest, and it can't help spilling over. And that is the big difference between this board and so many others.
It even informs the difference between this and other cat boards, because this one has as its raison d'etre
the welfare of cats -- as frivolous as we may get from time to time, this is not a frivolous site.
So, once again, Anne, thanks for the foundation. You're always quick to point out that it's the members that make the site what it is, but there had to be something to come to
, and to build on
, and a climate that made that an attractive proposition.
