I was just reading on msnbc about a new virus that cats can catch. Right now its called the avian flu. Chickens and ducks seem to be the carriers of this virus but scientists are saying that the virus is evolving so cats can catch it too. They are also calling it a influenza virus. If you would like to read about it it was on the msnbc website in the health section. Are there even any vaccines out for cats that can help with these viruses?

It's actually not that new, it's just mutating and affecting other species.

And so far Avian flu has been confined to the Far East - Vietnam - I believe. They are still working on a vaccine for humans and the primary carriers - birds, primarily chickens and ducks - so nothing yet, but also not anything to loose sleep over either as regards our pet cats unless you live in an affected location.
