That picture does not look like a 12 year old kitty. Perhaps her teeth are so bad because she wasn't being fed the right things or being fed enough. But that is a really young looking kitty photo there. Happy Halloween to you too

Hissy, I know. She either could have had rotten teeth, that when finally cleaned up, had to be pulled.
OR, she could be older, like the Vet thinks.. He pointed out the receding gum line, which is pretty substantial.

I guess we will never know her age, which is really frustrating. But she does look a lot like a kitten sometimes, and people have told me that she looks like one.

I don't know if there is really anyway to tell.

I know it would be nice to know Danielle's age, but obviously you have become a family, and thats all that matters!

She's a gorgeous cat, and looks like she has so much love to give...I think you are both very lucky to have found each other!

Cleo and threeleggedcat,

Thanks. I know it does not matter. It is just that I would like to know her age for health reasons. If she needs treatment for anything from the Vet, it would help to know her age.

But she is family, no matter the age. She is our daughter.
coochie woochie wuzza wuzza good wittle girl....goo goo

I totally understand why you want to know her age, and I wasnt trying to be mean or sarcastic.
I hope it wasnt taken that way.

I just wanted to let you know that I think Danielle is beautiful, and that she seems to be very well adjusted to you and your family.

I think you made the right choice in adopting her, and obviously you all have bonded wonderfully!

I look forward to seeing Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc, etc, etc, pics of her!

Vjoy,

She doesn't look that old. More like around 4 or 5 at the oldest. Cute kitty.

The shelter said she was 5. The Vet said she was at least twelve.

She is missing a significant amount of teeth, and her gum line has receeded a lot. That is why the Vet thinks she is older.

I will really never know....sigh...

What is important is taking care of her needs (which you are doing) and loving her but giving her space when she feels overwhelmed. Did you have trick or treaters that scared her this year?

Hissy, no trick or treaters at all!!

I love Danielle (Dani) so much that her age does not matter. I only think it does matter in her health issues. There is a big difference between health care for a 5 year old and a 12 year old. Isn't there? I am still learning.

I just wish I knew for the Vet's records. I'd feel better.

Thanks Hissy, you are correct. She is ageless and ADORABLE.
