The kittens sometimes don't start nursing immediately after birth. She doesn't have to be on her side. They will find their way to her titties on their own. Sometimes you can just turn mom on her side and place the kitten on a nipple or just keep trying til the kitten finds a nipple it likes. don't panic. If it's her first litter she is probably just as nervous as you. stay calm and she will too.

aw i remember when i had my last cat she had a litter of 7.
Her belly was so huge.. My mum was telling me it was time for the cat to have her kittens (i dont know how she knew) anyway in the morning i found 6 beautiful kittens under the chouch.
My mum was telling me that there was a dead one with the umbellicum cord (sp?) around its neck.
It was sad it was so cute all white..
As it was nearly time to move to germany my mum gave them to the cat protection and 2 of them were lucky to be given away to friends.
