Hi,

I would like to get my (2) 4 month old kittens used to wearing collars so that soon they can go in/outside using the magnetic door. Anyone have any tips to introduce them to collars?

You will want to get a go as you grow collar for the kittens. So that it won't be to tight, and is actually made for kittens and is adjustable for the stages of kitten growth. At 4 months old, they are to little to go outside, and right now if you put a collars on , they are likely to think that it is a toy. I would wait until you get them fixed at 6 months and then start them out with collars.

I started Hunter and Cougar off with collars at 2 months. I got a snap-buckle "safety collar" ($7 at PetSmart). The collar adjusts anywhere from 6"-12" and the buckle pulls open if they get caught in something, but the collar itself doesn't stretch.

The boyz adjusted to the collars with tags in a few hours. They are 4 and a half months, and they don't even notice the collars on them.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Sophie would not put up with her collar at all!, she always found a way of getting it off because i use the snap open ones.

It wasn't until she was spayed at 6 months and had to wear an e-collar that i thought "well if she's used to wearing that she'll wear a collar now?".

I was right!. As soon as the e-collar came off, her collar went on and it was no problem

Hi,

Well you were right Hissy, I tried a collar on Lulu last night and yes she thought it was a toy! She rolled around on the ground trying to bite it off. So I will wait until they are 6 months old and try again - perhaps without a bell.

I hope she will take to it then?

Thanks
Sharron
