Yahoo IM Avatars?

For anyone else out there using Yahoo 6.0 IM, I've got a question. You know your display image that is showing while you are talking to someone?.. Well my neice just asked me if I knew how she could change it to a smilie face (ya know the yellow smiling head, lol). Anyone know?

I use the same avatar that I have here of Sierra. Wonder if she found a smiley she likes, makes it the correct size and saved it to her computer if she could upload it that way, the very same as you would upload any other picture for your avatar?
